I am searching for a man anmed Kristian born August 1887 in Gudbrandsdal.I find him in the 1900 census of Russia twp., Polk county, Minnesota, living with his father Andrew Anderson born 1855 and his mother Ingeborg born 1864, and siblings Emil born 1885, Anton born 1899, John, born 1892, Bertha born 1896 and Annie born 1898. It says they emigrated 1900.On Digitalarkivet I find the 1900 emigration of this family from Ringebu: Arne Slaaen born 1855 and his wife Ingeborg born 1864, Emil born 1886, Kristian born 1889, Anton born 1890 and John born 1892. Is this the same family as the family on the Minnesota census?Does anyone have the church records from Gudbrandsdal (Ringebu?) showing the birth of a boy named Kristian in August 1887?Thanks, Garth

This looks like the same person: Arne Ingebretsen Slaaen was in America in 1877. He was then 22 years old, unmarried, and his destination was Lanesbora, Minnesota. On the 1865 census there is one Arne Engebretsen, living with his parents Engebret Arnesen and Beret Pedersdatter + sister Sigrid on the farm Fugleslaaen.

According to the book 'Utvandringa til Amerika frå Ringebu' by Einar Hovdhaugen this family emigrated to America (Minnesota) in April 1900: Arne Engebretson Slaaen (45), his wife Ingeborg (45), Emil (14), Kristian (11), Anton (10), Jon (8), Berte (4) and Anna (10 months old).

Now I have checked the parish records for Ringebu 1878 - 1887:KRISTIAN Born August 10th 1887, christened August 28th same year. Parents: Arne Engebretsen Slaaen (b. 1855) and his wife Ingeborg Kristoffersdatter (b. 1864)EMIL Born June 5th 1885, christened 28th June same year Parents: Arne Engebretsen Fugleslaaen (b. 1855) and his wife Ingeborg Kristoffersdatter (b. 1864) 'His second, her first child'Arne Engebretsen Fugleslaaen (unmarried) had a daughter KLARA born January 3rd 1885 with Anne Larsdatter Korsslethaugen (unmarried).Arne Engebretsen Fugleslaaen (b. 1855) was married to Ingeborg Kristoffersdatter (b. 1864) October 13th 1884. His father: E. Arnesen (occupation: farmer) Her father: Kr. Kristensen (occupation: farmer)Ingeborg Kristoffersdatter Norddølum was confirmed in Ringebu church May 18th 1879. Parents: Kristoffer Kristensen (farmer) and his wife Kristine JohansdatterIngeborg Kristoffersdatter was born January 10th 1864 at Norddølum farm in Ringebu and christened February 14th the same year.Hope this information will be useful.
