That was her maiden name. She married my grandfather and they came to Ellis Island and I believe went to New York first. They settled in Litchville, N.D. where my father, Norman J. Olson was born. They were married in a church in Litchville, Barnes county. I believe there is information that they were the first couple married there. My grandfather was Tonnes Halvardson(Halvorsen?) and changed his name to Tony T. Olson I know that Signe had a sister Valborg,Bertha a brother Ommund. Ommund and Signe, her husband Tony came to Madison. They lived in Northern Wis. first. Tony was a lumberjack for a while there. He then worked for Findorff as a carpenter into his old age. Both grandparents are buried here in Madison. Jon Anderson,Signe's brother lived in Florida for a long time. Jon and his wife went back to Norway for a time and then I believe went back to Florida . My cousin , Alice Danielson was their daughter.I don't know what happened to Ommie. He was kind of a loner.Valborg married a Moe. I can't remember Bertha's married name.I gave you more info you didn't probably need. Signe's b.d. was mar. 8, 1887. Death date was 1949. Mine is 1944 so I was around 5 when she died from breast cance complications. Signe was born in Topdal, later known as Tovdal..just a very small area near Lillesand, I believe. Here's a Berta Johnsen (Jan could very well become Johnsen) from Lillesand, born 1894: [url="http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=3&filnamn=KRISTUT&gardpostnr=64698&merk=64698#ovre>LenkeHere's one Ommund Andersen born 1892 from Lillesand: LenkeThis is probably Olevine Olsdtr in 1865, she has a sister Valborg: LenkeHere's Tovdal: Lenke

Ny mail fra Gladys: 'The only thing I am wondering about is that I believe I had Olivene and John as Signe's parents. I thnk I have Signe's death certificate where it listed Olivene as her mother. I will have to check again. I know that she had Ommund, Valborg, Bertha as her siblings and most likely John Andersen too.'Jeg har forklart henne at Jan og John ofte ble blandet sammen og Olivene er jo også det samme som Olevine. Så da er det nokså sikkert den rette familien jeg fant i 1900 FT. Lenke Merkelig med amerikanerne, de sier de vet ingen ting og så kommer det detaljer dryppende...
