Eg takkar so mykje på førehand for alle gode tips!Med venleg helsing,Lars E. Øyane

Arthur,I appreciate very much hearing from you. The conclusion of this discussion:Olinus Larsson Bakken was born at the Bakken croft of the Torberget farm in Trysil Co., Hedmark fylke, Norway Oct. 19, 1865 and emigrated in 1886. I can add that he settled in Benson township, Swift Co., MN where in 1897 (date unknown) he married Marie Hansdotter Tang, born in Balestrand Co., Sogn og Fjordane fylke, Norway Feb. 18, 1874. She emigrated in 1895. The couple soon moved on to Tioga, Williams Co., ND where Marie died Nov. 20, 1910, and Olinus subsequently homesteaded near Tompkins, SK where he died Aug. 7, 1946. They had a total of six children. How are you related to Olinus? I am trying to put together additional details about Olinus Bakken's children and their families and have been in contact with a granddaughter in BC, but maybe you know this family better? Please feel free to contact me off-line on lars.e.oyane@sdsl.noThanks again for writing!Very sincerely yours,Lars E. Oyane

Lars,Cannot help on any Canada families. I am more interested in finding family in Norway. An uncle to Olinus Larsen Bakken by the name of Oluf Persen married Kari Mortensdatter Nyhus Peglerud. Kari is my great great aunt. They moved to Skredderbakken, Innbygda. My gg grandmother, Eli Ericksdatter Otteraasen lived with the family until her death on 16 Jan 1891.Not sure I can be of help. But I surely appreciate the English translation.Sincerely,Art

Art,Last nite I was able to connecte to Olinus Bakken's granddaughter in BC, but she didn't have a whole lot of information at her fingertips. However, she did tell me that one of her grandfather's brothers lived in ND and either he or his son became State Senator Bakken in ND! Other relatives lived at Thief River Falls, MN...Good Luck in your continued research efforts!Cordially yours,Lars E. Oyane

Finn,Thanks for the offer. I have a number of scanned pages from various Trysilboka. So don't do a lot of work without determining if I already have it.I am mostly interested in information that connects with Skrederbaken in Inbygda. This would be any line that starts with Morten Olsen Nyhuus (oestre) 27 May 1798 to 1861 and Eline Eriksdatter Otteraasen (soendre 13 July 1800 to 1891.I descend thru Ola 23 Sept 1827. So any other line would be most interesting, especially Kari first married to Jon Persen Storjordet and secend to Oluf Pedersen Bakken. Oluf's second marriage was to Kersti Dortea Careliusdatter Moen.My e mail address is apeterson23 at mac dot com.Art
