[#57438] Bergebakkens In Norway

Recommended Posts

Gjest Deborah Settles

I'm involved in family geneology. I a looking for information on Erik Olson Begebakken, birth 1833, married Johanna Anderson. I believe Peder Olson Bergebakken is his brother. Received an e-mail from a woman who believes Iver Olson is also a family member. Maybe a brother to Erik? The family immigrated to Minnesota. I am hoping someone can give me info where we came from, (Maybe Lille Elvedalen?)other family members, maybe family members in Norway? Thank you!!!

I can see that this farm seems to be under Brandvoll in 1891, wonder if this Halvor is another brother? Lenke

Why do you suggest that he came from Østerdalen? Is this based on information that you have not refered us to, or is it simply guesswork? Have you considered options like Romsdal or Valdres?

You haven't answered the question in (4). The only hits in the 1865 census for Bergebakken is in the following parishes: Lille-Elvdalen in Hedmark county, Faaberg in Oppland county and Fjotland in Vest-Agder county (5):'New information'-what kind? Javenek could be Jevnaker north of Oslo.

In 1865, there was also a Kari Olsdtr in this family and she's no doubt his sister and the one emigrating with him.

And you find him listed emigrating from Norway in 1869 from Oslo - destination Gregor.

Probably(!) the right Kari Olsdatter emigrating from Oslo on June 11 1869 - destination Mc Gregor. Her age differs from the listing in the 1865 census - check out the parish records!

Bergerbakken was a cotter's farm ('husmannsplass') that belonged to the Berger farm in Jevnaker in Oppland County, Norway. It is close to the Jevnaker center and Randsfjord church, situated on the west side of the river that leaves the lake Randsfjorden at the south. This small farm is still there. The Berger farm headsites (two) are about ¼ of a mile north of Bergerbakken. My grandfather leased one of these farms in the early 1920-ies. Myself, I was born in Jevnaker in 1948.Bergereie means a place that belonged to Berger - '-eie' = owned by. Bakken = small hill, Grina = gateThe dates below are xx.yy zzzz = day.month year Ole Eriksen was born at Åslund in Lunner (neighbour town) and baptized 19.10 1806, died at Bergereie 5.5 1874, 68 years old; 'born 2.9 1806'.He must be the son of soldier Erik Larsen (no address) and Ingeborg Olsdtr who at that time stayed at the farm Åslund. I don't know much about Ole’s parents. They were not married. It is possible that Ingeborg had another child in 1815 with Paul MadsenOle Eriksen was 26 years old and stayed at Lunnerenga in Lunner when he at 28.12 1832 married Karen Eriksdtr 24 years old, who at that time stayed at Ulven farm in Lunner. She died at Bergereie 2.3 1880, 74 years old, 'born in 1806'They live at Bergerbakken with their children at the census 1845, 1855 and 1865. At the census 1875 she is a widow, stays with her son in Bergergrina. The 1865 census tells that she is born in Toten, but this is not mentioned in the 1875 census. Her birth year is 1808 in the 1875 census. I don't know anything more about this Karen.Their children were1 Erik Olsen born at Bjellumeie 2.4 1833, confirmation (c.) 1848, to America 1869 from Bergereie2 Kari Olsdtr born at Bergereie 24.12 1835 c 1851 to America 1869 from Bergereie3 Iver Olsen born at Bergereie 16.1 1840, c 1854, married 27.6 1867 Berte Ellingsdtr from Ål in Hallingdal born about 1845. I am looking for information regarding the wife of Erik O Bergebakken. Her name is Johanne Andreasen, born 1840. I believe this is her in the census year 1865, in Sondre Land # 0536, domicile Kampelien. Her father: Andreas Andersen, mother Johanne Iversdatter. All these pieces fit. I am looking for birth records, marriage, records. I would be most appreciative of any info anyone can give me on this family. Thank you!!! Deborah Settles
