I am seeking help on Peder Olsen Berg (1705-1776) who was married to Anne Nielsdatter Kolberg (1708-1792) in 1730. Sources have Peder's parents as Ole Pedersen Berg (abt.168-1741) & Oloug Pedersdatter Nesthorne (abt.1684-????) but I am unable to find his baptism in the Eiker parish records. From what I have been able to gather, Ole & Oloug had a Peder Olsen in 1703 who died young, a Peder Olsen in 1817 who was buried in 1719 and a Peder Olsen in 1720. I have found the Peder Olsen Berg's (1705-1776) death record in the Eiker parish record on 17 August 1776 but the age is given as 71 years which does not work well for a 1720 birth. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am decendent from Peder & Anne's son, Peder Pedersen Berg (abt.1748-1836) and unable to find his baptismal record also. Many Thanks Dale Nelson

Gunn,Thank you for the links - I wonder if the parish record could be 15 years off or if my Peder Olsen Berg had other parents and/or was not baptized in Eiker.Dale

I had also found those sources that have Peder Olsen Berg's birth in 1705 (which his burial record agrees with), but I can not find a record of his baptism of 1705 in the Eiker parish records. So I wonder how accurate those sources are. Dale

Hello.I dont think you will find the baptism. Maybe the priest forgot to write him in it or it could be Peder who was born in 1703, 2 years wrong its not much. Remember the age he had when he died is necesarry not 100% correct. Peder also had a sister born about 1726 her name was Malene. I have not found her in the church bookI can cheek my database when i come home from work, if nobody else do itleaving for work now.Bye

Hello!I think that the birthdate you have on the list, Peder Olsen born 1720 must be wrong. There are twins born born i 1720 as you can see here: LenkeThink that there must have been a Peder Olsen born about 1705 named after the fist son Peder born 1703,that died young? The priest might have forgotten to write in the churchbook. It is so hard to read the old book, that I can have missed the name when I tried to find his name.Do hope that someone have the familistory of Berg and can help you.Gunn

Hello Gunn & Magne, Last night I looked through the churchbook from the link you sent until my eyes started to cross - no luck either but I gained alot of respect for the transcriber's. Looking again at my notes on the possible children list I had, I think Rønnou,Anne, Peder(9), Peder(10), & Marthe(13) are from another family. This would align the list very close to the list that Magne has (Many thanks Magne). I can not find a reference to Peder's death but it may be in the IGI records of Family Search which is not working for me right now. Looking at Peders baptism on 28 May 1703 he would have been conceived out of wedlock or a very premature baby with possible health problems since Ole & Oloug's wedding was 28 Jan.1703. I will keep looking for that reference. Another possibility is that Peder was baptized at the Fiskum church which are records I do not have access to for 1705. Dale

Sorry about the bad link - I was trying to link to the actual 1703 baptism in Eiker / Fiskum: 1689-1704, Ministerialbok in Digitalarkivet. Its hard to read but it looks like much of the same info but identifies Ole Pedersen Berg while in the Døpte i Eiker 1702-1713 shows the father as only Ole Pedersen. Dale
