In Otter Tail County of MN lived a family;Thor Helgesen, born 1825 Martha , his wife , born 1827Children:Louis Odin, born in Norway ca 1860 Hardwick (Hardvig or Herborg ?) born in Norway ca 1863 Jorgine Otilia ( or Otilia Jorgine) born Norway ca 1867 Mary, born in Minnesota ca 1870They were in Minnesota on the 1880 census. Hei Carsten, ser vi kom fram til det samme!It seems to be the right people as Carsten has found the baptism of their daughter Jørgine Otilie, it's on top of the left page in the second link.These people came from Vaagen in Nordland county which is in the North of Norway.

Thank you all! I thought this would be impossible for anyone to work on as I had no area at all for you to work with. Now I shall try to make charts out of all of this. I live near an area in MN that still has the South Immanuel Church left as the only part of a little crossroads community called Stod many years ago. Stod consisted of a general store, creamery and church. My grandparents were married at this church at Stod. Carla Tweeton

Jorgine is the child that is of interest. She married Andreas Marius Hafstad in Otter Tail county, MN. in 1896. She died in 1903 and then memories get lost. I do not know where Mr. Hafstad came from but that must be known by someone yet as he remarried Helen Tweeton (whose ancestors were from Veggli-Rollag). Helen's mother, Mari, was a sister to my husband's great grandmother, Gunhild Reiersdatter Lofthus. This area in MN has many townships named after places in Norway such as Trondhjem, Norwegian Grove (where I grew up),Oscar and more and churches likewise!

Anne, Thank you! Andreas was born Dec. 8, 1868 according to his obituary. It states that he established a shoe repair and harness shop. Can you help with his place of birth? I am not familiar with the name. Carla Tweeton
