Does anyone have any information on who he married? I found his son Einer Hansen Ynnisdal died in 1780, aged 80 years, although Einer did not appear on the 1701 census with his brothers and father Hans. Thanks, Richard

I am sorry Richard, but I can confirm that she married Lorentz Monsson from the farm Kloevtveit in Gulen and they setteled at Austgulen in Gulen. You find them here in 1801 Lenke

Brita Rognaldsdtr is my 4th GGF's sister. Here's what I have about her:Brita giftet seg omkring 1680 med enkemannen Bendik Einarson fra Yndesdal, som døde omkring 1690. Forstanderen for Coupanger gods krevde i 1692 enka etter 'Bendik unge' for landskyld for årene 1690 og 1691 med tilsammen 3 riksdaler, 4 mark og 13 skilling.Brita giftet seg så på nytt omkring 1690 med Hans Erikson fra gården Wergeland. Terje, I have to admit it seemed a little off that a lady from such a seemingly well grounded family would marry an ordinary soldier from Hafslo. I suspect then that my Britte Einersd. 'Eikeberg' may have come from Gulen, as a search found no other in Hafslo. I will look farther ahead past 1734 and see what I find. Brekke 2 side 365: Brita Einarsdatter 1734-1810, ble gift i 1762 med Lorents Monsson Øvre Austgulen.Ivar Kleiva: Gulen 1 fra 1996, side 517-518:Lorentz Monsson Kløvtveit (33-1, 37) ble gift 2/7 1758 med enke Johanne Lassesdatter. Hun døde i 1762. Han giftet seg på nytt 1/7 1762 med Berte Einarsdatter Ynnesdal.Skifte i 1796.

Lars E. Øyane has written about Notedal in vol 6 of the Luster Bygdebok. I am now going to the library for some other puposes, but I will look up what he has written about Anders and Brite. So unless someone else finds out before I will have the answer in a couple of hours.

Terje, thank you! How does someone in America buy the various bygdebooks? I have these ancestors from Hafslo, but one from this group later settled and remained in Leikanger. So, I would need bygdebooks for Hafslo and Leikanger. BTW, I have a post concerning Anders Arnesen Notedalen's father, Arne, asking if anyone has info on him. So far all I have is Anders baptismal date from January 1728 in Hafslo.

Anders Arneson Notedal was born 1728 and died at Nedre Kvam in Hafslo in 1785. He was a 'husmann' at Halsateigen under Nedre Kvam, and the information on his wife etc will be found in the bygdebook under that farm. But that is in vol 9 which has not yet come out. But hopefully Lars Øyane will see this and give the information he has.I did not make any notes on Arne, but I remember the book said he was of unknown origin but born in Hafslo.Most of the bygdebooks can be bought from the local government autority. Here you have information on the Luster books Lenke I am afraid most is in Norwegian. Leikanger bygdebook is out of print. But I am sure you can borrow these books from many libraries in Minnesota, sice buying them may become somewhat expensive.

Richard, it's fairly timeconsuming and at present impossible within the scope of this debate to go into detail on all of the family lines of Anders Arneson (1728-1785) and his wife Britha Einersdotter (1733-1785). This family group will be included in the forthcoming volume IX of the Luster County History Book series as will also several other lines of the family, and more research is still to be done before I wish to release any of that information. I hate to give out information which has not yet been verified, and I presume you also prefer to have as correct information as possible rather than ''maybe's''...? From experience I know how hard it is to ''kill old theories'' once other facts are revealed...However, as Terje says, part of Anders' origin is already included in volume VI, while Britha Einersdotter's origin is partly included in volume VII under the Eikjaberg farm. I understand that all of the Bygdebooks for Hafslo (Luster County) are available for use at NAHA, St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, as well as at Chester Fritz Library in Grand Forks, ND, at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, UT, at Luther College in Decorah, IA and at Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
