I would like help finiding records of my great-grandfather who was born somewhere in or around BErgen, Norway. THe story passed down in the family is that he was the oldest of 6 children, and his mother died around 1859, and Oliver was sent to sea to learn his trade. The original spelling of the last name was supposedly, Hanson, and was changed to Hansen when he arrived in the USA somewhere around 1860. I would like to see if anyone can help me find birth records and family info as none was passed down.
