Slekt?Husband James H. JohnB: 3 Feb 1851 Dayton, Ohio, USA D: 1943 Cambridge, Nebraska, USAWife Carren Marie AaboeB: Aug 1857 Norway D: May 1953 Cambridge, Nebraska, USAMarriage 1879 Kansas, USAChildrenClinton Walter John SonB 7 Dec 1885 Cambridge, Nebraska, USAD Apr 1971 Cambridge, Nebraska, USAFrances John DaughterB abt 1888D Nebraska- THE JOHN FAMILYWilliam O. John was mustered out of the service of his country in 1869 after having served for three years as a wagonmaster, skinning mules with General William Tecumseh Sherman on his march through the south to the Atlantic Ocean. William had left his family on an island in the Ohio where they farmed during the war. With his family of three and wife Elizabeth, they joined the trek westward. The oldest son, Walter, went ahead to work on the building of the Union Pacific Railroad and was never heard from again. James and his sister Anne went with the family to Mankato, Kansas, where they settled in the mid-70’s. Anne married a lawyer for the Kansas and Pacific Railroad and lived many years in Kansas City. James met Carrie (Karin) Aaboe, an immigrant girl who was born in Bo Kayro, Norway, and the age of 12 had spent five weeks in a sailing vessel to arrive in the new country. They were married in Mankato and lived with William and his wife. In the spring of 1881, William and his son James decided to take a look at some new towns springing up along the tracks and the B and M then being laid in southern Nebraska. They rode to the end of the steel at Arapahoe and then with a hand car pumped the last 12 miles to Cambridge. There they bought lots and went back to Mankato to prepare their family for the trip to Cambridge. James and Carrie had a son, William, born in 1880 and they brought him along with their household goods to the new town in 1882.James proceeded to build a part of a house. Later this was incorporated into a new and larger house. NOTE: this was where Harve and Frances Keith lived until the house was torn down. James also persuaded the Methodist Episcopal Church to build across the street from him and sole them the lots for $50. For many years, the church and parsonage stood, until the parsonage was torn down and the church remodeled. William O built himself a home a block west of the present Power House (Howard’s address here) and lived a life as a trader and investor. James and Carrie lost their first son, William, to what was identified as diphtheria in 1884. A second son, Clinton Walter, was born in 1885. Clinton later acquired his degree in Pharmacy at Northwestern University inHe worked in the pharmacy with his father, James. James and Carrie also had a daughter, Frances in 1888. She attended Wesleyan College near Lincoln and pursued her musical education. Her parents were greatly interested in their daughter learning to play the piano and organ and she played in church and at many funerals. As a claim finder for newly arrived settling families, James became close to these people. He served several sessions of the Nebraska State Legislature as a representative from the district in which Furnas County was placed. When drought and grasshoppers left many of these new families destitute in the late 1880’s, he and R.H. Rankin went on a speaking tour to Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago to secure food and clothing for the new families. In her last years, William’s wife Elizabeth was quite ill and the family sought refuge in winter in Florida and the Texas coast. She died in 1906 and William died in 1914.In 1935, James retired to the front porch of his home and passed away in 1943 at the age of 92. Carrie lived until May of 1953. Clinton was united in marriage in 1911 to a local school teacher from Gibbon, Nebraska named Mary Eva Dunkin. They had a daughter named Eva in 1912 but the mother passed on days later from complications of the birth. The daughter, Eva, was raised in the home of Harve and Frances Keith, with Carrie Aaboe John in charge. Eva married George Faulkner and raised two sons, Richard and Donald………………………….. In 1915, Clinton married Caroline Louise Thuman, who had moved to Cambridge with her family in………………. Caroline supported herself as a seamstress before marrying Clinton. They had two daughters, Ruth Pauline and Marjorie Lou. He and Caroline built there home at 615 Parker Street Clinton’s claim to fame was his career as coach of Cambridge High School athletic teams, principally football and track. The schedules during his career included much larger schools such as Lincoln, Omaha and North Platte. However, Clint led his teams to victories for years with the State Championship Team of 1920 being his proudest and finest. He is a member of the Nebraska ..................... and the high school athletic field bears his name. He sang in the Congregational Church choir and played the trumpet. He could frequently be heard practicing in the walk-in safe after the drug store closed and in the community band concerts in the summer. Clinton and Caroline’s daughter, Pauline, married John Norman Walburn of Cumberland Maryland in ........................ They have two children, Susan and John.Marjorie married Charles Edward Wright of Oklahoma and raised two children, Jim and Ann.Clinton passed away in April of 1971. Caroline died in 1975.

Mange takk til Eva og Hanne Line.Hvordan i all verden greide du å finne all denne informasjonen Hanne Line ? Helt fantastisk. Gunnar.

Mange tusen takk.m.v.h. Gunnar.
