Nå lurer jeg på om det til tross for statusen "single" kan finnes noen etterkommere i Canada?

Er det noen her på forumet som kan hjelpe meg med å lete etter eventuelle barn?

Hello Ann-Mary,

I live in British Columbia and so next week I can go to the vital statistics agency and ask them if "Single" is supposed to mean "never married" or if might include divorced. Of course he could have had a child while unmarried. I shall have to think if there is any way to find out.

Hello Ann-Mary,

I visited the vital statistics office and asked them the meaning of "single" on the death notice. They said that one could not conclude from that that he had never been married and certainly not that he had never had children. That is obviously not very helpful. I have done some research on Port Edward and see that it was a fishing port that was more or less started by Norwegians and there was a large canning plant there for many years

Perhaps this is where he worked?

You can send an email to the town to ask if they might have any information concerning Magnus. info@portedward.ca

You may also want to try to contact the public library in Prince Rupert, which is the nearest city to see if anyone will look in the old newspapers for you to see if there was any obituary published (if he had descendants who cared for him, one would expect an obituary). Unfortunately, our city library does not have copies of the Prince Rupert newspaper.

If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know.
