Takk for svaret.

Jeraldine L og Lester fikk datteren Elayne Nesja of Centerville.

Johnson i Our Savior`s Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

From the Reform newspaper, Eau Claire (trans.): One of the old ones wanders away--Mrs Tina Lee died Tuesday the third of this month at an age of almost 82 years. The deceased was born in Granshered, Upper Telemark (Norway) the 22nd. February 1827, was married in 1847 to Kittil Aaneson Lien. She was a mother to 12 children, of which 7 survive her. She emmigrated with her husband and the three oldest children. They came to Eau Claire, Wis., and were settled there, until 1899, when she moved with her daughter, Mrs. John Strand, out to a little farm 3 miles from Eau Claire, where she lived until her death. The deceased was a quiet and peaceful woman. She had friends wherever she went. This could be seen by the pretty flowers and the large group of relatives and friends who accompanied her to her final resting place. Her place will always be empty and she will always be missed in the Strand family; but we have the sure hope that she has gone home to a better place, where sickness and need is not to be found. She has been a faithful subscriber of "Reform" since the first edition came out and went by the name "The Worker". Whenever anyone mentioned the paper we always heard her say: Yes I want the Reform" as long as I live. And she had her wish fulfilled. "Reform" came out the 2nd. of November and she sat and read it through. She was buried the 5th. of November beside her husband in Lake View Cemetery.

Also in the 10th Nov., 1908 edition is a card of thanks with special thanks to Pastor Lundquist and signed by her children: Andrew Lee, Ole Lee, Charlie Lee, John Lee, Esten Lee, Mrs Thora Peterson, and Mrs. John Strand.

Credit is due to Lieutenant Colonel Wilbur Charles Strand, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Strand of 632 Broadway, who on January 1 of this year received this high commission, although he is only 27 years of age.

Lieutenant Colonel Strand, who was born and raised in Eau Claire, made up his mind as a small boy to attend West Point and worked toward that end, receiving his appointment to the United States Military Academy early in 1934.

Dear Gloria,

It is with sadness that I report that my Dad passed away early this morning. He was 93 years old (almost 94) and had been in failing health for a while. He spent his last days comfortably in a wonderful hospice here. My mother and I will take him back to West Point (his alma mater) for burial in Sept. Our family was truly blessed to have had him in our lives for so long.

From early childhood Orville's inordinate curiosity led him into an almost limitless number of situations, from jumping off a barn with an umbrella, to having to be extricated from a culvert by his father, who at another time used horsetail hair and a needle to sew up a long gash in Orville's leg, gotten by falling from a tall wooden fence. His parents sent him to a singing instructor who told him he was a baritone. He wouldn't return for another lesson, thinking there was no future for a tone like a bear, so he took up the violin, but wasn't satisfied until he had taken it apart and made some changes.

Contending with all this was his sister, Blanche, who later became Mrs. Charles Strand of Eau Claire, mother of Col. Wilbur Strand, a West Point graduate, and Erva Strand Verner, teacher in Phoenix, Arizona, whose son has a hobby of bull-fighting in Mexico.

After graduating from the Eau Claire Teachers Training School in 1908, Orville taught a term in Pepin Co., Wisconsin. In 1909 he met and married a singer, Helena DASCHER of Buffalo County. She was the daughter of Civil War veteran George Dascher of Graubunden, Switzerland, and granddaughter of John Joseph Schneider, violin and voice instructor of Rheinland, Germany. He then built a home in the town of Union, on part of the original farm, becoming an ardent student of the mating and breeding of exhibition poultry. The work was also taken up and continued by their eldest son, Lloyd, who also built on the family homestead which adjoins the west city limits. The place became a Century Farm in 1955. He has won many thousands of awards at national and local poultry exhibitions and has shipped the Rocks, Red, and Wyandottes by truck, rail and air to many states and foreign countries, while raising some Angus and working as a millwright in Eau Claire.

Orville Wright was an artist of great skill, doing large canvas paintings in oil, for the work of missionaries and evangelists who sometimes stayed at their home for weeks, plus many smaller oils. He was also the community photographer, taking and developing many neighborhood pictures, both on plates and modern film. As an astute student of the Bible, he sometimes spent months of spare time analyzing the many portions of the Scriptures which he was always ready to discuss with interested friends and neighbors, who also came for barbering or medical information, he having U. S. patents on various ointments and liniments, which he manufactured and sold. He was generally working on some invention, one of which he patented in 1924.

When automobiles became common, he bought a touring car and an automobile encyclopedia, which he studied, and did most of his mechanical work and repairing, as he did with watches and firearms. He was an expert marksman, it being difficult to find opponents at the then annual turkey shoots. The second son, Orrin, is now the family firearm expert, and has tools, and equipment for repairing and replacing gun parts, loading ammunition, and is a toolmaker by trade.

The third son, Gerald, World War II veteran, has continued with music, as an entertainer, plus editing national cattle and poultry magazines.

After leaving the farm, Orville Wright went into the cabinet work, at which he was highly skilled. Also taught woodwork at the Eau Claire School of Vocational and Adult Education, plus making and repairing violins, spending much time and research on patterns, woods, and varnishes. During World War II, he did woodwork finishing for the interiors of the then famed B-17 bombers at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, after which he returned to Eau Claire, where he spent his remaining days among his many friends, with his extensive library, and his still insatiable desire for knowledge, until his death June 30, 1950.

The violin work is being carried on by the fourth and youngest son, Jerome, B-17 pilot in World War II, now owner of a music store, with violin repairing and string instrument instruction, at Hallie, in Chippewa County.
