S/S Rollo gikk bare til Hull.

Hvordan finner jeg ut hvilken båt han tok videre, noe han sannsynligvis gjorde og eventuelt hva som sener skjer med ham?

Wowwww..... dette er overveldende respons. Tusen takk for innspill til alle dere. Jeg er "førstereisgutt" her inne, og også når det gjelder "slektsleiting".

 

Jeg ser fra seilingslistene at S/S Rollo gikk fra Oslo annenhver fredag med destinasjon Hull. Derav trekker jeg den konklusjonen at passasjerene gikk over i korresponderende skip. Sannsynligvis med avgang fra Loverpool, ettersom de fleste "amerikabåtene" gikk derfra tror jeg........

 

Det er godt mulig at navnet Storsveen kan være byttet ut med Persen eller Pedersen (som han het opprinnelig). Men i "utreiseprotokollen" til agent Rasch er han innført som Storsveen. Da han var i Garden i Stockholm 1881-1888 var han oppført som Ole Pedersen Storsveen.

I´m looking for my wifes great-grandfather, Mr Ole Pedersen Storsveen. Born october 24th 1858 in Trysil Norway. He was christened december 26th 1858 in Trysil Norway http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070207670297.jpg line 139. His father was Per Persen , born december 12th 1815 in Trysil Norway. Ole´s mother was Johanne Olsdatter born october 3rd 1825 in Trysil Norway. Ole served in the Royal Gardens army in Stockholm, Sweden from may 1881 through april 1888. He got one son, Mr Martinus Storsveen born may 13th 1887 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb10040809080033.jpg line 6. Ole emigrated to America 1890. He leaves Oslo march 28th with the ship S/S Rollo bound for Hull in UK. http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=30&fi lnamn=em03011867tillegg&gardpostnr=25609&merk=25609#ovre linje 23.  His destination was Bessemer Michigan. I´m not able to find any traces of him in Bessemer. Have been in contact with a local historical societie that have applied, but without any results.  I find traces of him onboard in the ship S/S Furnessia, leaving Glasgow UK on April 3rd 1890. Kanskje feil immigrasjonsår på Ole Peterson?

På originalskjemaet synes jeg det er vanskelig å se om det står 1881 eller 1891 på immigrasjonsåret.

 

Ole Storsveen ankom 15. april 1890 og denne Ole Peterson hadde ankomst 1881 iflg. FT 1900. Enig med deg at det er vanskelig å tyde om det er et 8 eller 9-tall, men jeg heller nok mot 8-tall utifra hvordan tallene er skrevet på resten av skjemaet - det står iallefall at han hadde vært i US i 19 år og at han var NAT. Det siste kan bety at han hadde oppholdt seg i US lenger enn 9-10 år.

 

Vielsen (22. april 1891) var omtalt i avisen og der står det ikke så mye om ham, men bemerkningen "has a host of warm friends in this city" (Springfield) kan tyde på at han hadde oppholdt seg der i mer enn 1 år.
