Johannes (1860) and Peder (1856) Pederson Moe or Bruland - from "Bergen" to America - who were they?

Recommended Posts

From America I have received this inquiry, which I believe one or more readers of the Digital Archives can help solve...:

"I have two brothers that disappeared. Their sister said they emigrated and became farmers in the USA.

Peder Moe born 1856 and Johannes Moe born 1860, both in Bergen, Norway,

father Peder Johannesen Moe and [mother] Mathilde Bruland or Moe.

Both probably crossing the ocean after 1875. Could anybody have hit upon them, it would

be fantastic! I have searched for them for many years... :-)"

Thanks a million!

Peder Moe's first wife was Rachel Oline, who died in childbed in 1863

I've found that Peder and Rachel had the following children:

Berthe Severine

So, it seems as if Peder and Johannes were in their father's first marriage.

Peder and Rachel Oline married in Voss on 29 November 1847:

Hordaland fylke, Voss, Ministerialbok nr. A 13 (1836-1851), Ekteviede 1848, side 202.

Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=11773&idx_id=11773&idx_listetype=vi&idx_kjonn=&uid=ny&idx_side=-43

Permanent bildelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070524650003.jpg

Peder's father was Johannes Jacobsen Moene(?) in Haus parish and Rachel's father was Sivert Olsen Sunde (vaktmester?)

I guess this is Rachel Olines baptism record, even if her father's first name is Svend, but the rest is Olsen Sunde:

I can see that Sivert and Gjertrud also have a daughter Gjertrud Bolette:

and another daughter, Martine Sophia:

Hmm.

Eg ville berre hjelpa...

Med venleg helsing,

Lars E. Øyane
