I have today received the following inquiry from Rockford, IL:

"Victor Ingwalson was a very prominent member of our Trinity Lutheran Church, our treasurer for many years and he worked until about 100 years, not wanting to retire. We try to find information about Victor's parents, Julius Martin Ingwalson, born 1850 and his wife Ragna Ingebretson Ingwalson, born 1851. We would like to know more about where they came from in Norway and the only thing we have found was from there church here was Aakers church in Norway. Not sure of all the spelling for the Norwegian."

I have found out that Victor Emelius Ingwalson was born at Durand, Winnebago Co., IL on Sep. 16, 1884.

Here is the family in 1900, still residing in Durand township, Winnebago Co., IL:

INGVALSON, Jule May 1850 Nor Nor Nor em 1871 day laborer

INGVALSON, Ragna B Jun 1852 Nor Nor Nor em 1872 wife

married 29 years, 9 children - 7 living

INGVALSON, Victor Sep 1884 IL Nor Nor son

INGVALSON, Josephine Feb 1887 IL Nor Nor dau

INGVALSON, Orville Mar 1891 IL Nor Nor son

Then the 1865 census suggests this MAY be Julius' origin from Munkedamsveien 20 in Christiania (Oslo):

Ingvald Syversen Husfader g Snedkerarbeider 1801 Stange Prgj.

Berthe Dyersdatter Konen g 1802 Stange Prgj.

Julius Ingvaldsen Søn ug 1852 Christiania

Hilda Ingvaldsdatter Datter ug 1855 Christiania

And from FamilySearch this entry:

Name: Julius Ingvoldsen

Gender: Male

Event Date: 22 Aug 1852

Event Place: Oslo, Oslo, Norway

Birth Date: 13 Apr 1852

Father's Name: Ingvold Syversen

Mother's Name: Berthe Dynesdatter

Maybe someone can help by proving Julius' identity and maybe also finding his wife Ragna?

Thanks a million for your great assistance in this matter!

Very sincerely yours,

Lars E. Oyane

Thank you very very much to Ann-Mary, Jon and Carsten for many interesting contributions! I have a "hunch" that Carsten has found the correct people in items #5 and #7. I write this in English as I send it all on to Rockford, IL for further examination!

Also in my entry # 9 the church record said they went to Australia 1871 but I think this is in error.

Thanks to bergiverson we now have an identification of the marriage as well as the emigration of this couple! This information is also very much appreciated by their descendants.

Here is a message I have received today from the lady who started this inquiry:

"Dear Lars,

I have been in contact with Garnett Johnson, she provided me with your email information. How exciting the news is that you found on my family! I am very interested to get it figured out - I have a friend that lives near me from Sweden, and she said she would probably be able to help me with the Norwegian language that some of the records are in.

Just a quick note, my mother lives on the farm that Ole Tallakson purchased in about 1881 in Winnebago County, IL. It is now considered a 'Centennial Farm' in Illinois. Next year my Mother's barn will be 100 years old, being built in 1914 by Fred & Kate (Ingwalson) Tallakson. (Fred is the son of Ole Tallakson & Jane Pederson) (Kate is the daughter of Julius Martin Ingwalson & Ragna Engebretson). My family wants to have a celebration in 2014 to remember our Norwegian ancestors, so I would like to learn as much as possible as I can about them.

Ole Tallakson is also from Norway, I do not know too much about him. He was born about 1830 in Norway, and died in 1885. He is buried in a local cemetery in Laona Township, Winnebago County, IL. Jane Pederson, I have a lot of information about. Someone here in the USA has researched and written a book about Jane's family.

It is nice to meet you, and I thank you very much for your help. Sincerely, Sherry Meinert"

Very sincerely yours,

Lars E. Oyane
