Christian Johansen (Tanberg in America) was born between 5 and 14th of Dec. in Norderhov , Buskerud.  Norwegian church records and tombstone records in America differ.  His father being Johan Christiansen, born 1807; married Lisbet Pedersdtr. from Hole on 3 June 1842.

Christian married a Johanne , born 22 Jan. , 1844 and died 22 Jan. 1915 in Wilkin county MN.  This is what her tombstone states.  I cannot find her parents in the church books of Norway.  Neither can I find a correct Johanna.  There is one possibility, that being a Johanna , born in 1844, baptized 1845.  Born to Engebret Nielsen and Anne Nielsdatter from Fjelstad.  This farm name was also listed as Christian Johannesens grandfather's place - Peder Olson Fjelstad.

I would appreciate any suggestions or answers if mine are incorrect!   Thank you.

First, thank you to Anne for finding the birth of Nikolai in 1876.  In the 1885 census of Minnesota, there are also two children named Andrew and Mary, both 15 years old, born in Norway.  I searched backwards from 1876 but could not find these children if born to Johanne  ???

Then searching for Christian's parents, I found Johan Christensen, born about 1807, confirmed Oct. 1830 and married 3 June 1842.  His parents again listed as Christian Thoreson , born 12 Dec. 1762 and mother Ragnild Hansdatter from Fjeldseie  in Hole.  The parents to Christian Thorsen (Thorsteinsen) may be Tosten Thoresen and Maren Christianstr.

Johan Christensen married 3 June 1842 to Elizabeth (Lisbet) Pedersdtr., born or baptized 11 April 1813 in Hole Prgj.   Her parents may be Peder Olsen Fjelstad and Berte Marie Johansdtr.  Berte born 20 April 1782 in Eiker, Buskerud.  Her parents may be Johan Holland, gm 15 April 1781 to Christine Folkestad , also Eiker .There was a christening for _______Hoiland , 31 Oct. 1745 in Eiker.  The father was Ole Hoiland.

Thank you all for the previous help;   if you desire to find more, or some mistakes, I am humbly grateful.

In the Norderhov churchbooks I find that Johan Christensen Klavaasen ): Haga eie and Lisabeth Pedersdatter's son Jens,

tailor apprentice in Hönefoss, dies 19 3/4 yrs. old on October 1, buried October 10,1874:

.

I think there is a strong possibility that tailor Christen Johan(ne)sen, who was married to Karen Andersdtr. Dahl,

remarried her sister Johanne Andersdtr. Dahl. Their first child together must be Carl John, 6 yrs. old in 1885.

.

I have only found one child of Johanne's sister Karen and her husband, tailor Kristen Johannessen born and christened in Norderhov -

a daughter, Johanne Annette b. January 5, 1868:

I have not found any other children of the couple, so I think they must have moved out from this area.

Can any one help with emigration dates from Oslo to America for :

Christian Johannesen  Tanberg and wife Karen Andersdatter Dahl, born 1844 and 1843, with the daughter of Karen, Johanne Annette, born 1868  in Norway?    I have checked emigration lists from Norderhov and Hole with no luck.  But I could have missed them.

Also Johanne Andersdatter Dahl and her son, Nikolai.   Karen and  Johanne were most likely sisters.  Also their parents emigrated as mentioned above in another remark.

Karen died in 1877 in Wilkin county and is buried by her father and another child, Karen Amelia Tanberg.  They are buried in Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay MN.

Then Christian marries Johanne and more children are born.

Karen was Johanne's sister. She is born Marts (nor May) 2nd. 1846:

(second Karen on the list)

.

Two years off, but I have noticed that many immigrants to America not always use the correct year of birth, (they often become younger... ), but the date is usually correct. If, however March was misinterpreted to May by her immigration, it was probably difficult to change it afterwards.

.

I have not found them moving out in the church books either, but they may have emigrated from antother county.

.

The emigrant lists are not complete. I have not found any of them in the lists here (DA): http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/sok/3, Norway Heritage: http://www.norwayheritage.com/, Castle Garden: http://www.castlegarden.org/searcher.php or Immigration lists to Quebec: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigration-records/passenger-lists/passenger-lists-quebec-port-1865-1900/Pages/search.aspx

.

From Norway Heritage:

"If your ancestors were among those emigrating before 1853, you should have a good chance of finding them on a passenger list to New York or another US port. The Canadians did not begin the archiving of passenger lists before 1865 (for the port of Quebec). Norwegian records of emigrants did not start until 1867. This means that for the majority of Norwegian emigrants leaving from 1853 up to 1865, there are no surviving passenger lists."

http://www.norwayheritage.com/emigration-records.htm

.

EDITED: :)

Here is the emigration of Karen Andersdatter Dahl and her two daughters, Johanne (2 y) and Maren (0,5 y) in July 1870:

Back to Anders Jonassen Dahl, father to Johanna Andersdatter and Karen Andersdatter, I am searching for the parents of Anders, born 1810 in Norderhov, Buskerud.  I have found a Jonas Andersen Dal, born about 1775.  And a possible mother for Anders that might be Rönnov Olsdatter , born ca 1774.   Then I found that Ronau might(?) be the child of Ole Pedersen and Kari Olsdatter.  This was on a page called 15th Sunday after Trinitatis.

At times it gets pretty confusing to read the Pastor's notes when they are written so close.  If anyone wishes to correct or add to my possibilities, I again say Thank You.  Rönnov is a new name to me.

I will look for Jonas' christening. His father is probably Anders Thomesen according to the 1801 census. He is in his second marriage, and Jonas may have another mother than his father's wife.: http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01058270000280

Jonas' first two daughters were calles Kari and Elie, (see post #15 from Tom Larsen) and these names may be the names of the parents' mothers.

There is a guide also translated to English on how to make permanent links to the church books: http://forum.arkivverket.no/topic/183464-hvordan-lage-en-fungerende-lenke-fra-en-kirkebokside-en-kort-veiledning/#entry1557019
