Aleth Hansdatter, Tune

Hi.  I hope I am doing this correctly.  I am looking for the birth place, birth time, and parents of my ancestor Aleth Hansdatter, born perhaps around 1770-1775 in Tune (is that Ostfold?).  I don't know much about her, other than she married Johannes Hansen (Sollerud Ey).  I don't know where I got that last information from, but Aleth and Johannes had a son Hans Johannessen who married Anne Marie Truelsdatter.  I'm not even sure of their marriage date, but they had a daughter Johanne Hansen born around 1832 in Vestre Aker, Oslo.  The only reason I picked Tune as Aleth's birth place is that Anne Marie Truelsdatter was born there so I just assumed that would be here Aleth's son Hans was born.  Any help given would be greatly appreciated, and I am sorry I don't have more information.  I would also like to know how to pronounce Aleth.

Karen, Thank you for your response and I apologize for not including my name.  I am Anne-Lise Haufmann Godfrey.  I looked at the information you sent and tried to copy down the names - can you verify I did it right and if not, correct me?  This Aleth was born 9 September 1770 to Hans Jacobsen & Gunild Hansdatter, and are the following names witnesses to the birth?:  Mattias & Peder Bunes, Hans Horig, Bente Hansrud, Martha Bunes.  I know I probably have the names at least a little wrong and would appreciate seeing the corrections if needed.  And can you tell me how to say the name Aleth and is it a popular name today in Norway?  Anne-Lise

She is baptized 9 sep. 1770. Parents are Hans Jacobsen and Gunild Olsdatter. Witnesses are Mattias and Peter Bunæs, Hans Hevig(?), Berte Glomsrød and Marthe Bunæs.

I don't know if this is the right person, but it might be.

The name Aleth is not so common in Norway, and I dont think it has been to common anyhow.

(although I have this name in different variations in my ancestry..)

According to the Norwegian statiscical central bureau: https://www.ssb.no/en/befolkning/statistikker/navn

Theres only 4 or none with the name Aleth in Norway today, 9 Alethe, 11 Alet, 14 Aletta, 258 Alette.

I would guess the pronounciation of the name varies much after where in Norway, but I would pronounce it "a:lε:t"

You will find some recommendations for pronounciation of the letters marked red here: http://www.learn-norwegian.net/pronunciation/pronunciation.htm#current

The baptizm reads:

Den 9de Septembr er Aleth døbt, fød paa Glomsrød, Forældre

Hans Jacobsen og Gunild OlsDatter, fadd: Mathis og

Peder Bunæs, Hans Høvig, Berte Glomsrød og Marthe Bunæs.

I also found your ancestor Johanne in the chruchbook: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7720&idx_id=7720&uid=ny&idx_side=-129

Ps: By using your email as username on this site your email is visible to everyone, so if you figure out how to do it, I would recommend

using your full name ;)

Thank you all for the information on Aleth.  I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but every now and then when I find an ancestor, I sometimes feel very close to that person.  I really, really like my ancestor named Aleth and I hope this is the information for her.  The same thing has happened to one of my Scottish ancestors, named Jane Mennie.  I just feel so close them.  Anyway, thank you so very much for all the information you have given me and I will do some ore research to see if this is indeed "my" Aleth.  Anne-Lise Haufmann Godfrey

I have also experienced a certain "Connection" some ancestors, especially when I find some interesting stories, painting or visiting a place they lived ;)

Your username/information looks excellent (its always good to know who one is helping and discussing with..)

Maby your "Connection" to her also would be visible on DNA ;)

Hope you will find your ancestors, good Luck :)
