Gertrude Marian NEWGARD, fødd i Faribault Co., MN 24.8.1890,
     gifte seg 1ste gongen i Blue Earth, Faribault Co., MN 31.12.1908 med:

 

Perry Miller SAILOR, fødd i Elkhart Co., IN 12.7.1888.

I 1910 budde Perry og Gertrude i lag med foreldri hans på ein farm i Ontwa township, Cass Co., MI, men dei flytte hausten 1912 til South Bend, St. Joseph Co., IN der Perry i 1917 var restauranteigar.

Perry og Gertrude vart skilde kring 1919, og Perry SAILOR gifte seg att i St. Joseph, MI 26.7.1921 med enkja Edna May Marvel f. Estep.  På den tidi var Perry hotelleigar i South Bend, IN, men det er siste gongen eg finn han nemnd!  I 1930 var Edna Marvel «single» i South Bend, IN, og i 1940 var ho «divorced» i South Bend, IN.

Gertrude Newgard Sailor gifte seg att, ein eller annan gong på 1920-talet, med:

Elmer Elbert CRONE, fødd i Morgan Co., IN 1.9.1891.

     Han hadde òg vore gift før, men var skild!

Elmer CRONE var maskinarbeidar og formann på ein bilfabrikk i South Bend, IN der han døydde 19.3.1944.
Gertrude CRONE døydde i South Bend, IN 20.11.1972.
Ho fekk to døtrer, båe frå ekteskapet med Perry Sailor.

Isaac Sailor, 57, former resident of Elkhart, died Friday of diabetes at his home in Morocco, Ind., according to word received by relatives in this vicinity. Mr. Sailor was born four miles north of Wakarusa, the son of Isaac and Mary Sailor.

 

He married Emma Tallerday of Elkhart, and lived there until she died 10 years ago. He moved to Morocco shortly after her death. His second wife, whom he marries at Morocco, survives, with one brother, Perry Sailor of Fort Wayne, and one sister, Mrs. Matie Giffor of near Morocco.

 

Funeral services were held Sunday Morning at Morocco. The body was brought to the Olive cemetery, five miles north of Wakarusa, at 2 pm Sunday for burial.

Dei fleste faktaopplysningane stadfester opplysningane som eg har frå før, men tredje vigsli til Perry Sailor med MJary Long frå 1923 er ny og spennande.

 

Og ikkje minst at Perry Sailor er nemnd ved dødsfallet til Isaac frå 1937, då busett i Ft. Wayne, IN, men då er det underleg at han ikkje er å finna i FT1930!  Heller ikkje kan eg sjå mannen i 1940, men det er let å stava dette SAILOR-namnet feil...

 

Elles er det frå Amerika dukka opp interessante opplysningar frå 1922, som eg gjerne vil få dela med dykk:

Genealogybank has an article on the front page of Elkhart Truth (Elkhart, Indiana), on Tuesday, February 21, 1922, Two Men on Trial as Bootleggers, Jay Miller and Perry Sailor Accused of Having Cache for Booze Near City.  The article calls him Perry M. Sailor and says that at the time of the arrest, the men were associated with Isaac Sailor and Irvin Potts in conducting a "soft" drinks parlor.  They were fined and sentenced to 30 days in jail.  Since the marriage record gives his father's name as Isaac, I would guess that this was the same Perry Sailor.  This was during Prohibition in the US.  All alcohol was banned except for medicinal uses.   There were also lots of ads in the same paper during December 1922 for a cafe in the New Tyler Hotel with
Perry M. Sailor, manager.

Som ein førebels «konklusjon» kan me no seia at dei fire spørsmåli mine framleis står utan svar, MEN me er komne mykje nærare eit svar når det gjeld lagnaden til Perry Miller SAILOR.  Kanskje døydde han på slutten av 1930-talet?  Han er ikkje mellom dei som fylte ut WW2 draft i 1942!
