Larry Dean Ellison, 69, of Dalhart, Texas, died at his home in Dalhart on July 4, 2011. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophie Ellison, of Minot.

At age 11 he built a racer for the "Soap Box Derby," won the state competition and represented North Dakota at the national competition in Akron, Ohio. Following graduation from Model High School in 1959 he attended the Wahpeton School of Science where he earned certification in electronic technology. He began his professional career with Collins Radio in Iowa. After a few years he joined the AT&T Company as a field service technician in Casselton, N.D. Larry was a multi-talented man with many interests and hobbies. Like his father did in Minot, he designed and built his own home in Casselton while a full-time employee. He was a great fan of drag racing and became a certified EMT, volunteering his time for emergency services at races. He was instrumental in organizing, equipping, and serving as an EMT for the Casselton Ambulance Service along with many other volunteer activities. In 1993, he was transferred by AT&T to their field operations in Dalhart, Texas, where he served with distinction until his retirement in February 2003. His interests in NHRA drag racing, computers and building projects continued well after his retirement. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by daughter, Diana Schmidt, and family of Kindred, N.D. and son, Michael, of Fargo; by his former wife, Rita Ellison, also of Fargo; his wife, Karol Herold, of Dalhart; sister, Janice Flynn and family of Albuquerque, N.M.

Arrangements were handled by the Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart and cremation has already taken place.

ELLISON -- Sophie Jacobson Ellison, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Friday, March 21, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Flynn and husband Kenneth of Albuquerque; son, Larry and wife Karol of Dalhart, TX; daughter-in-law, Rita Ellison of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Debra Flynn Lambert and husband Gary of Las Polomas, NM, Duke Flynn and Trudi Flynn of Albuquerque, Michael Ellison, Diana Ellison Schmidt and husband, Mike of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Laney Lambert and Corey Lambert; sister, Janna Gallagher; brother-in-law, James Fleming; niece, Marie Ahrens; nephews, Robert Jacobson, Alan Johnson, John Gallagher, and Don Fleming; grand-niece, Susan Olson; and grand-nephews, Kurt Ahrens, Eric and Kristi Ahrens and children, Ethan, Owen and Autumn Ahrens; and Mae Olson and Atsuko Ogawa Olson. Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1966; her granddaughter, Robin Flynn; her brother Leonard; sisters, Agnes and Selma; nephew Donald Olson; and two Ellison grandchildren who died at birth. Sophie was a resident of Minot, ND for over 60 years. She was born in 1910 to Sivert and Gurine Jacobson in Bisbee, ND. She was a graduate of the Bisbee High School Class of 1927. She then moved to Minot, ND where she attended Minot State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. While teaching she met John Norman Ellison, of Minot, whom she wed in 1934. She was a substitute teacher in the Minot School System for many years. Sophie prided herself with beautiful clothes, which she made for herself, her children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed Bridge games with friends in Minot and Albuquerque. She also loved to play Scrabble with her children and grandchildren, and played Bingo. She was very supportive of and devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held Monday, March 24, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place, Friday, March 28, 2003 at Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bisbee Lutheran Church, Bisbee, ND 58317 or the First Lutheran Church, 120 5th Ave. NW, Minot, ND 58701. Sophie's family would like to express their many thanks to relatives and friends who remembered her in their own ways and a special gratitude to the Doctors in Albuquerque and to the staff at Manor Care on Lester in Albuquerque for their loving care given to her. Obituary

Rita R. Ellison, 70, Fargo, ND, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM, Friday, January 25, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will be sharing with the family one hour before the service. Interment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements. 

 

Rita was born October 7, 1942 at Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Opal (Dybdal) Kuruc. She grew up in Wahpeton attending St. John's Catholic School and graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1960 where she participated in the marching band. She lived for a time in Minneapolis where she attended Business College and worked for a time with 3M. She married Larry Ellison in Wahpeton, ND in July of 1963. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before moving to Horace and Casselton, ND. While in Casselton Rita was involved in the volunteer Ambulance Service and participated in the local "police reserves". She moved to Fargo in 1993. 

 

Rita enjoyed traveling, camping and time at the lakes over the years with her family, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime fan of Elvis and his music. 

 

Rita is survived by her two children: her son Michael Ellison, Fargo; her daughter, Diana (Michael) Schmidt, Kindred, ND; a sister, Pat (Les) Renschler, Minneapolis, MN; three brothers, Terry Kuruc, Mark Kuruc, and Kim Kuruc, all of Wahpeton; two grandchildren, Sierra and Ella Schmidt; nieces and nephews. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Larry, two infant daughters, a niece Robin Flynn, and a nephew David Renschler.

Jeg er overveldet av all informasjon dere har funnet frem , det har overgått alle mine forventinger ... så tusen hjertelig takk . 

 

Angående emigrasjonen så er dette riktig Ole dro i 1904 og Hilda og ungene dro i 1906 . 

 

Ad Johan Olsen Mustad og familie som Ann-Mary hadde funnet frem , jeg ser at Vardal er oppgitt i emigrasjonen deres ... kan dette være folk av Mustad familien fra Vardal i Vest Oppland mon tro ? 

 

Takket være en PM fra Ole Jon så har jeg nå fått direkte kontakt med en datter av Leon Eliasen , en meget hyggelig dame på 78 år som bor i Oregon i USA , hun ble overlykkelig da hun fikk telefon fra en " cousin " av meg som bor i Eugine i OR , og som ringte henne på mine vegne og la frem sitt ærende . Hun ville mer enn gjerne ha kontakt med meg og ga meg også kontaktopplysninger til en nevø av Leon Eliasen som kunne mange av historiene om , med og rundt denne familien , og om ikke dette var nok så snakket han endatil rimelig godt norsk .

 

Randi har og lagt ut en beskjed til en av etterkommerne til skiløper Peder Eliasen , så da er det bare å håpe at den går i boks også . 

 

Og det at dere finner nekrologer og bilder av gravstedene deres er helt supert . 

 

Nå mangler det bare konkrete kontakt opplysninger til en eller flere levende etterkommere av Ole Eliasen .

 

Jeg forsøkte å " like dette " på alle innleggene deres , men fikk lika bare to før jeg fikk beskjed om at jeg hadde brukt opp dagskvoten min ad. " like dette " , men åkkesom så like æ det veldig mye .

 

Å hvilken flottt uttelling dere har gitt meg  :rolleyes:
