Jöns Berg was born in Norway

My ancestor was born in Norway in June 1728. He joined the Swedish army around 1750 in Gothenburg. Lantinghausens regiment was transferred to Finland in 1751 to build the Sveaborg near Helsinfors. His military name was Jöns Berg. Could someone knows something about Jöns or his family

Do you have any source information (Archive, ledger etc) regarding the connection to the Swedish Army around 1750?

 

For instance: Where did you find the piece of information about his name, birth month and year, and name of the regiment?

I'll post a picture to "Generalmönsterrullor Bergsregementet 1757, Lif Kompaniet". That is all I know his Norwegian roots.

Have you found Jöns Berg in any 'husforhörslängder' in Sweden? Do you know if the company that was sent to Finland in 1751, followed von Lantinghausen back to Sweden two years later, when he was appointed to lead a regiment in Göteborg?

 

If Jöns Berg was in von Lantingshausen's company in 1757, he would probably have participated in the Pomeranian war, according to what was written over. I think we will have to find Jöns Berg in any HFL prior to his enrollment, to have a chance to find out who he is.

 

If the only military roll you have found Jöns Berg is the one from 1757, how can you know he was in Finland at all?

Lantinghause came back to Sweden, but the regiment remained in Finland. The regiment's name was changed when the commander changed. Lantinghausen regiment 1749-52, Cronhielm 1752-62, 1762-72 Björnberg, von Saltza 1773, Skytte 1773-77, 1777-88 Fleming, Stackelberg 1788-1801, Jägerhorn 1801-08. Jöns name can be found in the lists of the regiment until he dies in 1782. Regiment is written  the history in Finland "Från Lantinghausen till Jägerhorn". Jöns's has the son, Thomas was born in Finland year 1764

I was mistaken thinking you were accessing Arkiv Digital, as there are no source citation to that service. The service you are referencing is not accessible to me, and probably not for the majority of people here.

 

Do you have more information of Jöns Berg's continued life in Finland? Did he stay there and settle with a family and children? I am guessing you might be a descendant of his. Do you have more names of his immediate family in Finland?

 

When did he die and is there any probate records available (Boupptäkning etc)? Did he change his name into a Finnish name, in case what was it?

Jöns Berg had a number of children, but most died as a child, a boy named Thomas, who was born in 1764,  live to adult and started a family. He was my grandgrandgrandgrandfather. Jöns died in Sveaborg Helsingfors 1782. He was then Fleming regiment Kulhjielm company military No 73
