Anna Berendt, 84, of 512 1/2 E. Locust St., died yesterday morning in a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
A native of Minnesota, she had lived in Lodi since 1935 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lodi.
She is survived by six sons, William, Emanuel, Herman, Henry, Walter and Elmer Berendt, all of Lodi; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Schick of Lodi ad Mrs. Emma Taylor of Sacramento; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ut frå dette ser det ut til at første kona Brita er død mellom 1886 og 1897 og at Anders er attgift rundt 1897.. Og eldste dottera Anna Maria fødd 1884 kan ha vore oppfostra hos onkelen Ole Ellingson. Dotter nr 2 Betsey fødd 1886 kan ha døydd tidleg sidan me ikkje finn meir spor etter henne.

Hello  Anne Marie,

 

Elmer Haukeness and Brita Bothun  were my grandmother, Margaret Haukeness's, aunt and uncle.  Margaret's father was Erling Haukeness and her mother was Hilda Bolette Hermansen. Brita Bothun was my grandfather, Harold Hoium's aunt.  Britas sister, Synneva, was his mother who died very young.  They also had a sister, Kari, who emigrated with them.  The story was that a group of young people did emigrate, including Botolf Hoium with whom Synneva Bothun married in Canada.  All were from fjerland or fresvik.  Hoium and Bothun farms.  I was looking for information on Maria Haukeness/bothun and especially Mikkel Vigdal.  Was he born in Norway?  Did they marry in the U.S. as eventually they all emigrated to Canada from the U.S.  At least Erling and the Bothun girls did.  

 

I have visited Norway twice...Bergen, Lillehammer, Voss, Narvik but plan toreturn to Fresvik.  My mothers and several other relatives have visited Fresvik.  I played as a child with Elmer Haukness grandchildren on their farm.  I likely knowmthe people with whom you correspond.

Mikkel Vigdal (1865-1946) emigrated to Am in 1883. 5 brothers and sisters and his parents also emigraated later. When his mother died his father Lars Olson  (1831-1899) returned to Norway. Married to Brita Hansdtr. Øyri in 1895 and got two children with her.

My great grandmother Synneva is twin of Jens and sister of Brita.  Related to you, I believe.  Are you living in Fresvik, Nne Marie?

Yes, I'm living in Fresvik. 

We are related, Brita was the sister of my grandfather and visited Fresvik a couple of times together with her husband Elmer. Also her children has been here. 

Brita, Olav, Marta and Synneva emigrated to America, Brita died 14 years old and Thor 10 months old. Ola and Gerdtrud lived in Fresvik, Jens in Fjærland and Oline in Bergen. 

I remember that my father knew a lot about Brita's family and as I mentioned they also visited Fresvik.

Later Burnell and Sherly visited Fresvik, and later some of the next generation.
