Eg skreiv til Marine Firemen's Union, og her er svaret som eg nettopp har motteke:

Mr. Oyane:

We possess minimal records on members of the Union, especially dating back to the 1930s and earlier.

However, the records we do have indicate the following:

Name: Ole C. Erickson
Union Book Number: 1026
Height: 5 feet 7 inches
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Date of Birth: May 16, 1897
Place of Birth: Minnesota
Date Initiated in Union: March 1, 1934 in San Francisco
(He had service in the Union prior to this date - the union was reorganized in 1934)

Also, our records state that he was killed in New York City in October 1946.

There is no explanation of how he was killed or by whom.

He was buried in New York on October 16, 1946.

That is all we have.

So då veit me kva som skjedde med Ole, so då spørst det:

 

** Kan ein nøyaktig dødsdato finnast?

 

** Finst det kanskje avisskriverier om denne hendingi?

Hjarteleg takk til Bjarne for eit spennande og avklarande innlegg!  Denne dødsmeldingi er jo eintydig, men kva som skjedde, får me jo ikkje vita...

 

Det einaste spørsmålet som då står at om Ole, er om han var gift, slik FT1920 antyder..., men det får me vel aldri svar på...
