Dear Deb!

Thank you very much for contacting me directly on this topic.  It seems like you found my inquiry about this family from this topic from a couple of years ago:

https://forum.arkivverket.no/topic/202498-nils-johnson-1842-austre-toten-og-wilhelmine-helene-wilhelmsen-1838-christiania-med-son-johan-georg-wilhelm-1864-til-amerika-186-kven-var-dei/?tab=comments#comment-1709114

However, I am not related to this family.  It so happens that Johan Georg Vilhelm Johansen married into a family I have been researching descending from Luster Co., Norway, and here is an excerpt of my manuscript describing the family in question:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
d. Bertha Marie, kjend som Mary Linjer, f. i Vernon Co., Wis. 20.10.1865, d. i Red Wing, Minn. 27.1.1922.  Mary gifte seg i Vernon Co., Wis. 7.1.1891 med Johan Georg Vilhelm Nilsson Johansen, opphavleg frå Vestre Aker, i Amerika kjend som John Johnson.  Han var son av veveriarbeidar Nils Johansen på Bråten i Nydalen, Vestre Aker, opphavleg frå Hagebakken under Nittum søndre på Austre Toten, og kona Wilhelmine Helene Olsdotter Wilhelmsen frå Sagene i Gamle Aker og f. på Sagene i Gamle Aker, Christiania 27.10.1864, men utvandra til Amerika med foreldri sine i 1868.  Han d. i Tucson, Az. 25.6.1946.  Som enkjemann gifte han seg i 1928 att med Wilhelmina, kjend som Mina Johnson, f. i Goodhue Co., Minn. 7.2.1881.  Ho d. i Glendale, Cal. 21.3.1951.  John Johnson var elektrikar («electrician»), og parfolket budde i Stillwater, Washington Co., Minn., men flytte sidan til Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minn. der John var handelsmann («merchant»).  Dei fekk ei dotter i lag.
Maybe some of this information will be of help to you?
Good Luck in your research!
I am curious as to why you are researching the family that John George Wilhelm Johnson married into?  He is my great great grandmothers brother.  I would appreciate any help that you can give me concerning our family.  Thank you!
Dear Deb,
Thank you very much for several messages regarding your ancestry from Toten County, Norway.
As I said before, I am not related to the Johnson family, although I do have a very distant relationship to Bertha Marie «Mary» Linjer, whose husband was your great uncle John.  To my knowledge John and his parents or their relatives never lived in Luster Co., Norway, and none of his relatives are described in any of my books, which, by the way, only exist in Norwegian (with summaries in English).
In one of your messages you ask me why I am researching this family and how come the family of Johan George Wilhelm is «significant enough» to be researched.  Then I have to tell you this:  My County History project was initiated by the Luster County Administration back in the 1970’s, and it is our intention to describe EVERYONE who has ever lived in the County as well as the emigrants from the County and their children, including spouses.  There is no question of how «significant» a person has to be in order to be described, and I am somewhat proud to say I have been able to deal with everyone, whether he (or she) be a successful person, a community leader or a person with high education, or the contrary.  Thus my biographies equally include very «unsuccessful» individuals as well like criminals and alcoholics.  What makes everyone «significant» in our eyes is the background he (or she) has from Luster County, Norway, and as you know, we are all born equal, and not everyone has the capacity of being more successful in life than others!
I am afraid I cannot help you any further with the background of the Johnson family from Toten County, but I notice there are other brilliant helpers in the Digital Archives Forum who are more than willing to assist you!  Randi Elisabeth is one of them!
I wish you the very Best and Good Luck in your research efforts!
It seems that the entire Nittum / Nettum family you are asking for, went to the United States.
Some of the information above is written in Norwegian, something in English.
I hope you can read their names and where they lived in the United States.
I suggest you search for the Nettum family at ANCESTRY.COM. There are several family trees on ancestry about Johan Nilsen  and Gjertrud Gulliksdatter  Nettum
