Is there any specific information on the death of Ole  A Hage in Norway

I found he died May 21 1897 in Mandal

Is there any confirmation in the archives etc?

In the parish register deceased and buried it states (column 9 - cause of death) he was "sindsyg" = insane. Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20051202031080

In the death protocol (21. May 1897) - it states cause of death as nerve degeneration (nervesvækkelse).

Vest-Agder county, Mandal in Mandal, Death register no. 4 (1895-1908), Death protocol page, Page 16, Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/sk10411110260032

Does Norway have a vital records office to obtain copies of birth marriage and death certificates?

No, it was all recorded in the (church) parish records (books) (birth, marriage, death etc). Deaths you might also find in in the probate records (as shown in post # 51 for Ole Arnesen Hage).

Thanks so much Egil.  I have Swedish DNA too but haven't had a chance to work on that!

I would love to find out more about how he became insane.
