Does anyone have any information on Christine Marie Marcusdatter Wang/Vang?

Christine Marie Wang was born in 1853 in Frosta, Norway and was the daughter of Marcus Wang and Nicolene Schelderup and sister of Rev. Jens A. Wang.In the 1865 census, she lived with her grandmother, Martha Schjelderup.

She immigrated to United States with her mother and her brother, Jens on July 23, 1871. She lived in Madison , Wisconsin until 1880 and moved back to Norway. She came back to United States in 1888 and lived in Brooklyn, New York and was a school teacher there. Her fiance' was an officer and was lost at sea.

In the 1875 Norwegian census, she was listed as a guest in Halvor Wahlberg household.

In the 1885 Norwegian census, she lived in Oslo and was store manager.

Another researcher states that she owns a bookstore in Horten, Norway in 1885, but not sure if that was really her or a different Marie Wang.

In 1890, she send a telegram to her brother, Rev. Jens Wang to congratulate him on his marriage. The telegram was signed Fernander & Marie and it was from Brooklyn. I don't know who Fernander was?

Between 1890-1892, She wrote to her half-brother, Soren if his daughter can come and live with her in Brooklyn, because she was alone and Soren refused.. That is the last time anyone have heard from her. Her brother Jens Wang tried looking for her but no luck. She either died soon after 1890 or got married or moved back to Norway.

I could not find any records of Christine Marie Wang living in Brooklyn. She was not in either Norway or United States 1900 census or any death records. The only record I can find is in the emigration record.

This Christine was born in 1865 in Dypvåg - and is not "your" Christine. The 2 following posts shows census 1910 & her marriage in 1887.

I can't answer your question, but very interesting people, as I'm a descendant of Esten Marcussen Wang (Røros), and have also Schjelderup ancestors.

One Anders Storm Wang (the son of Marcus Fredrik Wang) was married to Dorothea Wahlberg. That COULD be the Wahlberg connection.

She came back in January not in June according to your post # 15.

How do you know she lived in Brooklyn, worked as schoolteacher and had a fiancé?

Rev. Jens A. Wang is my great grandfather and he told my grandmother about his sister living in Brooklyn and was a school teacher and he lost track of her after 1890.

I also have a the telegram that was send by Marie and it shows she lives in Brooklyn, New York.
