I am trying to find out birth dates and birth village of this husband and wife who were both born in Norway.  I don't know whether they met in USA then married, or married in Norway then emigrated to USA.  They probably died near Lisbon Township Yellow Medicine County Minnesota or nearby in Montevideo, Chippewa County, Minnesota.  Most likely they immigrated to USA in mid to late 1800's.

Following a tree on Ancestry.com, they married in Vadsø parish, Finnmark county, Norway. They travelled with two children from Norway about 1866. Ole Olsen wife Christine and children Malene and Peder can be found in the 1875 Minnesota State Census. Other children in the census were born in Minnesota. Here is a screen shot of the original of the 1875 Minnesota Census shown above. 

 

 

This is likely the baptism record for son Peder born May 14, 1865. See number 19. The farm name in this record is Bergendahl. Parents are listed as Ole Olsen and Christine Henreitte Bergendahl Jacobselve.

They had another daughter Anna Oline born Jan 26, 1864. She is not in the Minnesota Census. See number 5.

DEATH 24 FEB 1919 • Montevideo, Minnesota, USA

 

Father was Gjert Bergendahl and the mother was Malene Oien. Gjert died in 1861 but the mother and some of the siblings of Christine  can be found in the 1865 Norwegian Census for the parish of Vardø. She is called Malene Bergendale in the census. Spelling can vary somewhat in these older Norwegian records.

Fathers full name in a Geni.com tree is Giert van der Ohe Holm Bergendahl and mother is Kirsten Malene Johansdatter Øien. 

 

Based on the name this is likely his baptism. He appears to be from Bergen, Hordaland.

Malene is listed as born Feb 14, 1861 and baptism March 17, 1861. She is also listed as the illegitimate child of Christine with a L Simonsen.

 

The record also shows the birth date for Christine as June 27, 1841, which does not match the date given the Tree. The tree has 1840 as the year.
