Thinking maybe i can just buy the volume that has my family information in it instead of buying both volumes (maybe i will buy the other volume later on)

So i have been entering the info into ancestry and will be moving over documents and translations etc this weekend and next week.

 

How would you all suggest that i track where people are from?

 

halsaunet, Vallaraunt, Naroya, Berdal, Selnes, etc, etc. ?

 

Ancestry has First and Last name. Then a preffix area... i could put it there? But you all have mentioned that those names of places could change for the person if they moved. So an Ole Gabrielsen Halsaunet would turn into a Ole Gabrielsen Selnes if he moves from one farm to another correct?

 

Just wondering how you all would keep track of it.  (ancestry has a notes page for each person, or i could put the names of the places on their timeline?)

Anyone have any tips on what they do to track the farm names, or other names the families are named under. A few of the family members listed here has their farm name change due to marriage or moving, just wondering what the rule of thumb is or how you all keep track?
