First entry on the page... https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/546/91

Sophie Hansdatter was unmarried in Feb 1859 when my 2x great grandfather Hendrik Hansen was born on Vaaler farm in Lorenskogen.

Can you let me know what this record says about her, and where she was located?  Also, what is the note on the far right?

some background:

My Sopie was born 1836 Stalsberg Skedsmo, had son Hendrik out of wedlock at Vaaler Lorenskogen in 1859.  I believe she had another son Martin Olesen (b: 1862) and lived on Bakken (Bjørnholdtbakken under Bjørnholt) in 1865. She appars to be living with an older Ole Pedersen in 1875 at Vaalerberget Lorenskogen in 1875 (no children) and then marries him in 1876.  She marries a Kristen Guttormsen later in 1884.

Sophie was married March 23 1860 to Husmand Halvor Halvorsen living at Tveten:

Akershus fylke, Lørenskog, Skedsmo i Skedsmo, Ministerialbok nr. I 10 (1854-1865), Viede 1860, Side 204 https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060306021061

At the birth of Karine, it was recorded that she was 'uægte' (out of wedlock), even though she was born March 24, the day after her parents married. At her baptism Aug 15, 1860, they lived at Værhaugeie. The note on the far right says: Uægte. Barnet født dagen efter Bryllupet. (Illegitimate. The child born the day after the wedding)

It may be worth some caution here...

The connection point is apparently Peter's 2x great grandfather, Hendrik Marius Hansen,

https://forum.arkivverket.no/topic/177493-hendrik-hansen-birth-record/?tab=comments#comment-1512805

whose mother was a Sofie Hansdr. Vaaler.

The Sofie in the first posting here is not impossible, but seems not very likely.

The Sofie at Bakken in 1865 seems also hard connect to Hendrik.

Apparently, Peter has more information and sources about Sofie. The birth record of Hendrik does not tell much about her.

thank you Elin and Ivar.

I actually only have assumptions.  Henry was born on Vaaler farm.  Sophie was on adjacent Vaalerberget in 1875.  I do need to look back at where my assumptions started, but I think it was the 1875 census and 1876 marriage at Vaalerberget that led me back to her being originally from Stalsberg (1836 birth and 1851 confirmation).

I have more to ask about a record for Sophie.

1851 Confirmation record notes she lodged somewhere...I can't make it out - can you?  This may gave me an idea of where she went after Stalsberg.

...and since you seem to good at reading this script, https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/547/242 has Sophie marrying Kristen. In column 6, I see he was living at Vaaler, but i'm not sure what else it notes.  Column 7 indicates he came from  Nes while Sophie came from Stalsberg.  I know column 11 notes Hans C. Vaaler was present (he was for her and Ole Pedersen's marriage too) but don't know if anything else worthwhile is noted.  I do not know waht column 14 and 15 says.

I think all these records imply Sophie in 1865 Bakken (near Østbye where Ole came from), 1875 Vaalerberget with Ole, 1876 Ole marriage, and 1884 Kristen marriage are all the same person (esp. with mention of Stalsberg birth).  The Halvor/Karine links from earlier seem to be unrelated. I do not have any other proof that she is the same one that was mother to my Henry, but I'm using the fact she was on Vaaler-realted farms in 1875-1884 to substantiate it.

"Sophie Hansdatter, i Lægd paa Luge

24 Oct 1836 | Stalsbergeie [birth date and birth place]

Hans Pedersen, Mari Nielsdatter"

"legd" ("Lægd") was a system for social care; this year Sofie lived at Luke ("Luge"), which is a farm in Skedsmo.

The reason why she was on relief might (possibly) be found in the protocols of the parish' poor relief.

A possibility is that her parents were dead or unable to take care of her.  On the other hand, she is 15 at this time and

would normally be able to work for her living.

the marriage 1884:

Column 3: 2nd marriage for both

column 6 is the groom's civil position and residence, "Arbeidsmand bor paa Vaaler-eje i Lørenskogen" (Workman, lives at V in L.)

It says nothing about the bride.

Column 7 is birth place and year; (groom) "Jellum i Næs paa Romerike | 1811"  (bride) "Stalsbergeje | 1836"

Column 8 is a) place and date of confirmation b) place for most recent communion

"a) Han i Næs 1827, Hun her 1851  b) Han i Næs, Hun her"  ("her" = here, i.e. in the parish)

This confirms that this is the same Sofie as in the confirmation list.

Column 10 (not 11) is the best men: "Gaardmændene Martin Hansen Vaaler og Hans C. Vaaler, begge efter skriftlig Bevidnelse"

( ... both by written testimony)

Column 13: "Begges første Ægteskab opløst ved Døden. Attest fra Sorenskr. om at Inter er til Hinder for Ægteskabet"

First marriages of both dissolved by death. Attestation from "Sorenskriver" (a district court judge) that there is no hindrance for the marriage.

i have another one for you Ivar if you don't mind.

Martin was born in 1863 to Sophie and Ole.  Ole is living on Dalbakk which is subfarm to Vaaler in Lorenskogen.  I can't make out the farm Sophie is on - looks like Branta?

Sophie is pign...so I assume young and unmarried.  What is the word before Ole Pedersen?

"Pige", right, unmarried girl/woman (in this context, strictly not about age)

I read "Brauta".

"Ungk.[arl]", bachelor

last column: "Uægte. Opgaven skeet af Moderen, forhen 1 uægte barn"  (illegitimate. Report by the mother, previously 1 illegitimate child)

Thanks for this. I saw an Ole Pederson of similar age in 1865 census on nearby farm, married with adult children.   But at this point it doesn't seem like he was married (having affair)

I'm sorry for a .jpg and not a link, but this is what I saved several years ago and do not know how to find it again <easily> in scanned archives.

I know Hans Petter Eliasen (called Pedersen in most records) was born in 1797, married in 1825 Fet, and moved to Stalsberg, Skedsmo in 1830.  He died 16 Apr 1846 at Frydenberg under Stalsberg.  His wife, Mari Nielsdatter, preceded him in Mar 1845.  I know the children's names (and can read them).  However, I do not know if anything else noteworthy is noted here (I know much of it relates to assets/debts etc.).  I'm mostly interested to know if it indicates where the children (esp. Sophie) were sent.

Nothing is said about where the children were sent.

They had no relatives who could represent them, "fuldmegtig Holmsen" was appointed as guardian for all the children

"fuldmegtig" means a clerical officer; here I suppose a deputy of the judge ("sorenskrivar")

The gross estate was 47 dr. The debt was 63 - 3 - 7 (dr. - ort - skilling).
