Liklihood of moving - Skirset farm, Nes

Hans Jakob Andersen was father of Henrik Marius Hansen in 1859 Skedsmo.

#17 at http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=546&idx_id=546&uid=ny&idx_side=-69

He was unmarried and was a father to previous illegitimate child.  Record notes he came from Naes Praestegjeld.

I looked in 1865 Census and have a handful of possible HJA's from Nes.  I've searched through Skedsmo and Nes scanned churchrecords from about 1850-1859 for another child's birth and although there may be some possible ones, I didn't find any that made me say it was him for sure.  I have felt like a strong possibility is one coming from Skirset farm (those records note a brother Ole Andersen who may have been witness to Henrik's baptism).

Birth - http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=533&idx_id=533&uid=ny&idx_side=-21

Confirmation - https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/534/3579/29

Marriage - http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=536&uid=ny&idx_side=-205.

1865 Census - https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/38023/362

This Hans Jacob Anderson Skirset had two daughters, but their records don't indicate their father having previous illegetimate children.

If Dad had indicated such on Henry's birth, wouldn't it be likely it would be noted on his other children's record?

I've speculated he fathered a child at home and was sent away to another parish, but then returned.  How likely is that during this timeframe?

If Hans was a worker on another farm in another parish in 1859, how likely would it be that he'd be head of the household/farm in 1865, over his father?

I know these are likely just guesses, but thinking someone may know tendancies at this timeframe; I'm not sure how else to determine if I have the right father to Hendrik so I continue to take a stab at something and keep looking for more proof.

No, the number of previous illegitimate children is typically only noted in connection with the births of new illegitimate children (and some times not even then), to keep a tally. If his two daughters were born in wedlock, nothing would be noted about his previous transgressions.

Here’s the section on your candidate from the Nes bygdebok:

https://www.nb.no/items/URN:NBN:no-nb_digibok_2014102008038?page=433&searchText=«Hans jakob»

It says that he got the deed (kongsskjøte) to the farm Skirseth Søndre already in 1858. The birth of Henrik Marius in 1859 claims that his father is working at Vaaler eie in Skedsmo «at the time». So it doesn’t add up 100%, though not completely impossible I guess.

I suspect that Hans Jacob Andersen born 1833 to husmann Anders Hansen Brandstorp and Birthe Iversdatter is a more likely candidate to be moving around a lot:

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/533/7

he’s at Finholt eie for his confirmation in 1848:

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/534/173

I haven’t looked for him after that, so there might be entries saying that he’s not a good candidate for being i Skedsmo in 1859.

He’s briefly mentioned in the bygdebok here:

He might have had an older sister Birthe Marie who was born before their parents marriage:

A little more info on Hans Jakob Andersen born in Nes 1833 in later census records:

1865 in Eidskog, Hedmark, married to Olia Arnesdatter:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01038038004759

He has an illegitimate child with her in 1864:

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/8864/93

Unfortunately the number of previous illegitimate children is not listed here. Too far from home to bother being honest, I guess. 🙂

1875 in Fet, Akershus as a widower:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01052045001669

1891 in Fet, Akershus, married again to Berthe Pedersen from Sweden:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01052710001092

1900 in Fet, Akershus, still married to Berthe:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01037034001377

In 1910, still in Fet, still married. His birthdate matches the one from my previous post:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01036379001576

He is clearly alive in 1859, moves around a lot, and has illegitimate children, so all in all not a bad candidate unless he can be placed elsewhere around 1858.

Here's a pic of him and his last wife, from Fet bygdebok, also confirming the Hans Andersen listed in all of the above census records is Hans Jacob from Brandstorp in Nes:

https://www.nb.no/items/URN:NBN:no-nb_digibok_2013050708003?searchText="hans andersen"&page=51

he had yet another wife 1878-1881 taht isn't captured by the census records. Rumors apparently said there were 24 children of his all in all, and maybe more.

thank you Carl and Anne-Lise.  I had posted a few candidates on another thread since I did not see this.  I'll have to do more digging, and appreciate the leads.

Carl. Thanks again for doing so much leg work on this.  It is much appreciated.  I cannot access the link with the photo, but im assuming the info about HJA is all on that page 51.  I typed it into Google translate...is this noting 24 children lived at this home, or that he had about 24 children overall?

All the info about HJA is on page 51, the next page goes on about his son who takes over after him. The sentence about 24 children says that «tradition says that there were 24 children at Enga», ie this home. They do not know for sure his total number of children.
