Emmigration of Andreas Rasmus Absalonson Vellene born 1848?

I have been unable to find any emigration or location  information on Andreas Rasmus Absalonson Vellene d.y. born 1848 other than the DA record.

.    a Link to this person in DA  is as follows:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/327/pv00000000782379

From geni and other records it appears that Andreas  emigrated from Norway,  but i have been unable to find any information on where he may have gone in America.  He often is confused with an earlier  Andreas Rasmus 1843 1848 who died before he was born, and after whom he appears to be named.

His brother Samuel Johannes Absalonson, my great grandfather  settled in North Dakota,  as did other immigrants from Kirkeeide, Sogn  where Andreas' wife Margrete Markusdatter Kirkeeide  is from and settled first near Mckinnock, then Churches Ferry North Dakota, and later near Bottineau ND.

Any help will be appreciated.

Finding the arrival of the family was a bit challenging. I did find the arrival of two young passengers listed next to Andreas in the Digitalarkivet emigration record posted above. Then I found their arrival in the Canadian Incoming Passenger Lists on May 11, 1880 on the ship Sarmatian.

The only passenger on the Sarmatian that fits Andreas is this one.

Anders A Ryor Reede

in the Canada, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1865-1935

Name:Anders A Ryor Reede

Gender:Male

Arrival Age:31

Birth Year:abt 1849

Departure Port:Liverpool, England

Arrival Date:11 May 1880

Arrival Port:Quebec, Quebec, Canada

Vessel:Sarmatian

Looking at the four passengers under number 56, I would say that in spite of the bad fit between the transcribed name and his name of Andreas Absalonsen that this is the correct arrival.

Thank to all for your great help!

We now know that Andreas emigrated with his brother  Samuel in 1880 and others from Stryn , and settled in North Dakota,  and i have several leads to work now.

Anton:  again thanks again!   your last post came in as i was sending a reply.      We do know that Samuel absalonson also came in through Canada, and  down the great lakes to Duluth.   Also  The name Morense compares with Margretha's fathers name Marense (Danielsen Kirkeelde).    I will check on records now for Reede.    .

Update.   The 1900 census has Andrew Kirkeide as follows:  Malene can be lena,  and Martines is Martin.

I further found a record in My Heritage for Malene B Hanson  1893 who lists Andreas Kirkeide from Mekinock as her father,  but with a birth date of 1893.   Andrew Kirkeide is Andreas Rasmus Absalonson I now have no doubt,  taking the name of the place he emigrated from in Norway Kirkeide,  but being Naturalized as Andreas Absalonson.  This was americanized to Andrew Kirkeide,  burried in the Ness Cemetery at Mekinock.

The first two children of Andreas/Andrew that emigrated however died young.   Two later children Lena (Malena) and Martin(Martines) were named for the deceased siblings. He had a total of 4 children as shown below in 1900.   The 1920 census shows Margaret as his wife.

A note on the Ryor Reede:  it may have been an incognito boarding.  Some used aliases( i have read,)  if they were subject to conscription or the sheriff.   Another reference also said that some immigration agents had people use a common last name so they could quickly identify their travelers.   I'm sure the Andreas family  are right in the manifest,  but unsure why the Ryor Reede name.    Again:  thanks to all for the help....and I hope this can help others.  The person below was born as Andreas Rasmus Absalonson Vellene.   There is a transcription error with the children , duplicating them.      Bruce

Or perhaps the Royer Reese is just a guess by the transcriber as to what the name is?

It looks to me as Anders A ? Kirkeide. Can the missing one be Rasmus that somehow gets turned it to Royer. I will grant you that it does not look much like Rasmus.
