Looking for family in Lillestrøm

Hello, can anyone please help me to find any of my late fathers family?
He was born in Lillestrøm in 1924 and his name is Rolf Johannes Olsen. He joined the merchant navy as a teenager and eventually married an English woman (my mother) and lived in the UK until his death. I would love to find any relatives I may have or even just some information of where I can look.
Thank you so much!

Marie.

Do you know the names of his parents? I don't find any Rolf Johannes christened in Lillestrøm in 1924.

It is quite possible he was christened in some of the neighbour communities to Lillestrøm. If you know his parents name we might find them in the 1920 census and have some idea of where else to look

There is one Rolf Johannes Olsen listed in the War Sailor Register which fits the description, although he was born in 1921 and not 1924 as the thread starter has stated.

According to searches at FamilySearch, he seems to have married a Florence A. Borras (sp?) in 1947, and might be the same as the Rolf Johannes Olsen who died in 1981 in Yorkshire.

The problem is that Fagereng was in Rælingen (Fet parish). But Fagereng was so close to Lillestrøm/Strømmen (Skedsmo parish) that they could choose Strømmen church or Skedsmo church. Lillestrøm did not have a church at that time, but church services were performed in the Indremissionen chapel in Lillestrøm. and noted in the church register, but not always

I have searched for baptisms in Fet/Rælingen and Skedsmo without success.

Maybe we should wait until Marie Olsen has confirmed that we are on the right track or not. The big question is the birth year (1921 or 1924). If it is the right person, then I think I have the names of a bunch of siblings ...

Ah ... Nes! It makes sense, somehow, as the mother of Rolf Johannes Olsen b. 1921 was born at Nes, Romerike in 1893. We just have to get confirmed that this is the same Rolf Johannes that Marie Olsen is asking about.

Really I’m overwhelmed to wake this morning (I’m in the US) and to see that so many kind people have been finding information that I was unable to. Siblings? Amazing!

It’s overwhelming to discover so much in so little time. My Dad was a very private person and never spoke about his family after losing contact when he went to sea.
I WISH I had asked him questions. He was so loved by all who knew him.
Everyone here has been so kind. To see names of grandparents, actual physical evidence of births, marriages and deaths makes my quest even more important. Thank you all.

Solveig Marie's husband Arne Rudolf Madsen remarried in 1959 Else Synnøve Grønvold (marriage banns in Norsk Lysingsblad 14 December 1959). He died on 20 September 1974, cf. the death announcement in Aftenposten 24 September 1974 No. 439, p. 23:

Not too relevant when searching for possible descendants of Rolf's siblings, but for the record ...

Dag, this information opens up the possibility that I may have cousins somewhere? I appreciate your sleuthing skills. Tonight I will raise a toast to you all (and to my newly found family members)

Arne and Vera Olsen had children, as mentioned in Olaf Olsen's death announcement, I just have to find the details ... The other siblings were not married at the time of their father Olaf Olsen's death in 1954, but could of course have married later. But Olsen is a common name, so it will take some time for us to find the details. Solveig Marie and Arne Rudolf Madsen didn't have any common children in their far too short marriage.
