My ancestor (Tølleiv Nilson) from the Hedalen farm was born in 1802. His parents were Nils Tølleivson and Guri Johannesdtr.Tølleiv left for the U.S. in 1857 at about age 55 with his wife and eight children.I am wondering if there is any way to find out what he did until 1857. Did he remain at the Hedalen farm? Can anyone please help me with suggestions of how to proceed?I have traced the family back many generations on the Hedalen farm, but I am curious to know what Tølleiv did before he came and why he emigrated at such a late age. I know that he joined his brother John in Wisconsin - but why so late in his life and with 8 children!Thanks!
