Guest Jennifer Richardson #1 Posted March 28, 2003 My father fought in the war in the 1940's. He received a medal from the King of Norway for heroicness after rescuing his men and being on a lifeboat for 40 hours. How do I find out more about this medals? Guest Jennifer Richardson #3 Posted March 28, 2003 Thank you! My father has 3 of these--the Krigsmedaljen, the Frihetsmedaljen, and Deltakermedaljen. He also has one that is similar to #3 Haakon VII's frihetskors of Haakon VII's Liberty Cross. My Dad's has a black ribbon(which may not be the original), the white enamel cross like pictured, but his has an eagle on it like our United States symbol. It also says 'E Plurius unum' which is our words for 'In God we Trust.' I am wondering if this one isn't from Norway?? Thank you for this site!
