  2. It would be easier to help you if you revealed where you found this information and which sources you have checked. Some of your information may be wrong. How sure is you that this Marte is in your lineage? According to "Hjørundfjordboka" (Strømme and Standal, 1990) vol. 4, p.604 ("Rekedal"), Marte's mother was from Rekkedal ("N Eriksdotter Rekkedal", while the father was from Stokke ("Peder Arneson Stokke") (opposite of your information). "N" and Peder took over the farm after her parents, Erik Jetmundsson (unknown origin) and daughter of Ivar Øye (name unknown). (Vol. 5, p.110, "Stokke") Peder's father was Arne Pedersson Tryggeset (approx.1615-1697; uncertain years), holding Stokke from approx 1647; wife unknown. (vol. 4, p.530, "Tryset") Arne's father was Peder Torsson, (apprx 1570-1635), holding Tryset from approx. 1606. Notice that all of this is based on very sparse sources; some tax lists, "manntal" (census with males only; 1664, 1666, 1701), "skifte" (division of estate), etc. Existing Church records begins in 1733 (with limited information content).

Trying to find information on Mathias Christianson b.1848 d.1928

Ok, interesting. So the kids he had with Olava Julia must have stayed back when he came to Minnesota? My great-grandmother Johanna (Jennie) was one of 4 kids - Anna, John, Kari, and Johanna. I'll have to look into that further and see what I can find. Did you take a look at the prison stay? I can't make any of it out and am wondering what happened. Thanks, Stacey

    Forsvunnet gutt - 1881 - 1888

Det blir m.a.o eitt skjønnsspørsmål/vurdering.

Isak Eriksen Born 1840 - 1850 lived in Lyngen? Moved to Minnesota

Hi Anne, thanks for sending that over! I'm having some trouble picking out Isak's Mother's name on there: His Father looks like Erik Eriksen, and it lists Sweden as his (Isak's) birthplace.? Thanks again, Stacey

    Torvald Syversen, emigrasjon

    Ok, takk for svar.

    Torvald Syversen, emigrasjon

Isak Eriksen Born 1840 - 1850 lived in Lyngen? Moved to Minnesota

Thank you so much, Anton and Gry! I've heard so many conflicting stories of his life, and this looks like it's going in the right direction. A letter from a cousin stated that he lived at Høiseth, N.E. of Tromsø. And his parents could have been Erick and Helena. But I was unable to find any information on him or his family. Have you seen anything about his parents or where they came from? Gry, you mentioned Trondheim? This news is exciting. I've been looking into Isak for quite some time now and heard stories that he was from Finland, Sweden, and Norway (a bit confusing at times). It's so great to gain some tracking:)

Thanks so much, Anton and Lars! From everything I looked up, Mathis had only four children listed, and they were all from Anna Christensdatter Gjerde, so this is quite interesting news! I so appreciate all your help, guys:)
