Hello,
I came on this forum a couple years ago for help and the response was incredible. You all solved a mystery that has helped me find hundreds more ancestors! Thank you! I have another puzzle...
In the 1801 census there is living with my g-g-g-g-grandparents one of their grandchildren, Anne Johannesdatter, 4 years old:
This is the 1801 census: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01058216004846
This is the familySearch profile for Anne: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G9GD-NS1
I am trying to find her birth parents. The most likely candidate is Johannes Jansen, https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LQTX-265. He would have been about 15/16 when Anne was born, which is old enough to have a child (pushing the boundary) but would explain why Anne is living with the grandparents and not the parents.
However, I cannot find Anne's birth record, nor anything else linking her to her birth parents.
- Are there available adoption records to look at? Would the grandparents have legally adopted Anne (i.e. was that common practice at the time?)
- One thought was to try to find Anne getting married later to see if parents are listed, but no such luck. One potential candidate is here in the 1865 census, but I cannot confirm: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038027052675
Any help you can provide and/or leads would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you kindly,
Tyler
