My gg grandfather Ole Johnsen was born on a farm in Øvre Stjørdal (Hegra) parish, Nord-Trøndelag, called Ingstadgjerdet. The farm is not listed on Oluf Rygh's Norwegian Farms website (or at least I haven't found it there).
Is there another area where Norwegian farms can be researched?
Google translate suggested that 'gjerdet' translates to 'the fence' in English.
Ole Johnsen's father's title was husmand. So I think he was born into a family who didn't own land but paid to use someone's land.
Is it possible that Ingstadgjerdet refers to fenced land on an existing Ingstad farm?
Thanks to anyone who might be able to shed light some light on this farm location and name.
Regards.
