[#21758] Help to find info for my grandmother Nikoline Nilsen (?) b, Oct.6, 1881,Elverum

Hello, I would like to find more information for my grandmothers family. She was born Oct. 6, 1881 in Elverum and came to America in 1902. I do not have information on her parents, but I think she had a sister named Karoline. Not sure if the spelling of Nilsen is correct. She was unmarried when she came to America. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

In the 1885 census you will find Nikoline here. Lenke In the 1900 census I think she is looking after the cattle in Løten.

I found Nokiline Nilsdatter borm 1881 and Karoline Nilsdatter born 1875 in the 1900 cencus where they were working with keeping cowa/sheeps withe norwegian word for 'budeie' on a farm with the mane Balke in Løten

Hello, You are all so kind and helpful and I appreciate your help so very much. It seems that the information is correct and I will use the links to see if I can find more. This is new to me. I have spent time looking at the Digital Archive but I have not requested any information from the church books because I wasn't sure how to do that. My grandmother passed away in 1960 in Minneapolis and she had 16 children. (4 sets of twins). She was quite an amazing lady and I want to find out as much as I can of her family and descendents in Norway. In the 1900 census in Kristiania (Oslo)there is a Karoline Nilsdatter born in Elverum 1879. There also is a sister(?) Martine Nilsdatter born 1874 in Elverum.LenkeIn (3) you can see that there is a Nikoline Nilsdatter from Elverum b. 1881 in the Kristiania census.I don't think we should drop Elverum as the birthplace yet!Laila Kornstad.

I have checked the church records for Elverum and found a Nikoline Nilsdatter born Oct. 6, 1881, christened Jan. 29, 1882 in Elverum. She was the daugther of Nils Kristoffersen Finstadhagen and Martea Andersdatter at Finstadhagen in Hernes, Elverum.Nikoline's parents were still living at Finstadhagen in the 1900 cencus: Lenke

Nikoline's sister Karoline was born April 2, 1878, christened Sept. 1, 1878, in Elverum, daugther of Nils Kristoffersen og Martea Andersdatter Finstadeie.

Thank you again, everyone. I do believe that this family from Elverum is the correct one. I could be wrong about a sister named Karoline. My aunt doesn't remember but she is the one who mentioned that to me. Sorry if that caused confusion. My grandmother talked often of Elverum and I have an old postcard picture of a street in Elverum, so I am pretty sure that was the birthplace. I missed out on lots of conversations because I could not speak Norwegian. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Foreldrene ble jo gift i 1874.Sønnen Emil ble født da.Så har vi Karoline i 1878.Nikoline i 1881,Marie 1887 og Anne i 1890.Veldig vanskelig å finne flere på tellinger.Mange heter Nilsen og er født i Elvrum, eller Elverum. Er det noen som har tips til Linda hvordan hun skal gå fram for å komme i kontakt med familie som lever i dag? Byarkivet i Oslo kansje?
