Would any farm records exist for Tranabakken? If so, where would I go to find out?I am trying to research my grandfather's brother and sisters and I know that my grandfather grew up at Tranabakken. I am interested in finding out what happened to his oldest sister....as she was never mentioned. I am wondering if she died young and perhaps something about her might be recorded at Tranabakken.

I made a search in the 1865, and in Sparbu (1865: Sparbo), in Nord-Trøndelag fylke (county) I’ve found the farm name Tranabakkan. As you may see, there are 22 persons registered on this farm name, and if any of their names are familiar to you, this information may be of some help for further research [url="http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f61731.wc2&gardpostnr=163&personpostnr=907&merk=907#ovre>Lenke. Another way of spelling the name is Tranabak, and five more persons are living on Tranabak in Sparbu in 1865 Lenke. Since you do not mention any names, it is difficult to know if these are the correct farm names. Here is a part of the church book for Skei in Ogndal for children born 1884-1905. Some of the parents lives on Tranabakken http://www.ntnu.no/~dag/slekt/kirkebok.html Before 1884 Ogndal (Skei) belonged to Sparbu Lenke (ministerialbøker = church books), so to look for information on people before 1884, you have to ook in the church books from Sparbu

Thank you for your help. My family does show up in the 1900 census..John Jenshus, wife and 3 of the children. I looked at the Tranabakken records you gave me and it doesn't look show the other 2 children being born there (my grandfather was born in 1906 and his baby sister after). The problem I am encountering is with the oldest daughter Anna, who appears in the 1900 census. I am wondering if she died at an early age and would there be any records. I do know that my grandfather was born at Tranabakken and spent his childhood there, so I know that the family stayed there for a number of years. I am hoping that there would be information about whether or not his sister either died there or was married there and left the family. Also, are there any other censuses taken in the early 1900's that are available for research?Thank you all for your help so far.

Here is some information from the National Archives of Norway about public censuses (statlige folketellinger) after 1900 - which can be found here Lenke“Censuses after 1900As of 1900, Statistics Norway has carried out a census each decade. The data from every second census as of 1919 are kept in the National Archives, while the remaining material is deposited in the regional state archives. Pursuant to the Norwegian Statistics Act of 1989, the censuses are restricted for a period of 100 years. Some municipal archives, primarily in larger towns, contain municipal censuses that are accessible after 60 years.”
