Sigurd was the son of Gunhild Syversdtr. Logsengardeie and married Agot Johanne Ruth(b. 1911) and they both died in 1997. Gunhild(b.24.05.1876) was my ggramma Kersti's younger sister who stayed in Aal with mother Haldis Aslesdtr. Kersti(b.02.01.1866) emigrated with brother Helge Syverson in 1883 to Mitchell co. Iowa and became Carrie Severson-Hultman. I'm the grandson of Carrie/Kersti's 8th child and would like to get in contact with other Logsengardeie Syverson kin still living in Aal or Ringerlike.

Dear Alf, Thanks for the Hallingdolen.no/ website and I will try to use it. I received a Telefonkatalogen pa nett from Lars but have a problem with calling people on the telephone, as we say here 'out of the blue' because I do not speak Norwegian and I do not expect them to speak my English. As a journalist in the local newspaper Hallingdølen, he might give you some more info on your search for norwegian kin living in Ål. He said you are free to call him or send mail to embrik @ sensewave.com, and he'll try his best. Dear Kjell, mange takks for the time zone difference and the info on Emrik Luksengard. I sent him an email at the address you gave: embrik@sensewave.com but have a question about the Telefonkatalogen Lars sent me. There is no Emrik but I see an Eirik Luksengard Leveld at 3570 Aal. Is this the same person and is Emrik a nickname, like Bill is for William here in America? Let me know because I have never made a trans-continental phone call and would like my first to be to Aal, Buskerud, Norway.

Hello Kjell, Yes, I did find Embrik Luksengard at the bottom of the page as you said and I'm much obliged for all the hjelp you, Alf and Lars have provided. But before I call Embrik, I have two questions that will help me: 1. Is Hallingdolen the exact name of his newspaper in Aal? I sent an inquiry about ad space to www.hallingdolen.no/ several months ago and never got a response. 2. I'd like to know about the different spellings of the old farm name,i.e., Luxengaard, Logsengard, Luksengard. Are the spellings based on different time-periods when families lived there or just regional differences when fylke borders changed over the years? Thanks, Kjell, for any info. To your no 1: Yes, as Alf says, Hallingdolen is the right name and I find it strange that they didn't respond to your request for ad space. Try another e-mail to redaksjonen@hallingdolen.no. Your no 2: I do not have an in-depth knowledge of the region Hallingdal or Ål but from Norw. census 1801 and 1865 the farmname is spelled Luxengard and in 1900 Luksengard. From this link http://www.aal-bygdebok.no/082001-.htm (first paragraph) one can observe the use of Logsengard/Logsengardeie from the early 1600's. Much as I'd like to, I'm not able to transcribe into English all of what the link says: the short version though, is that in older documents the farmname was Logsengard - at times Laskengard, Loskengard, Luxengard. Luksengard has been used as a familyname. The best I could do on this, Dave. I invite others in this forum with further details on the matter to give Dave a hand on this. Good luck with Katrina ! Dear Jan, takks for the info on the 7 hour time zone difference between Tennessee and Norway. Pease give Kjell mange takks for the history on the Luksengard farm name going all the way back to the 1600s. This is why so many northern Europeans emigrated for new lives and new land in America during the 1800s and left 'the Old Country' behind. This is also why us family historians have contacted you record-keepers in Norway. You have the original Norwegian/American connections in the Digitalarkivet and emigrant records from the NHDC and there's many Americans looking just like me.
