Searching for relatives of my great grand parents Ole Hanson Gaustad, Gresjmoen, born 14 September 1862 and Gjertru Persdatter Skjegstadlokken, born 2 September 1862, both in Melhus area of Holonda parish I believe. My information suggests the following. Ole’s parents were Hans Johannesson (1818-1875) who was 57 years when he came to this land and married Kari Andersdotter Grindbakken 1819-1887 in 1847.from Bjorgan in Haltdalen and/or Eidet in Alen. The Holonda Book 1 says Ole was one of 8 children and only one other sister is listed as coming to USA. Gjertude's mother was Kari Nilsdtr. Solemslokken born in Solem in 1817. Her father was Per Evensson 1809-1883, who came to Skjegstadlykkjsa from Skjegstadhaugen. They had 10 children including Gertrude. I believe three others also went to USA.They went to America in 1888. One child was born in Norway, Helmer 1887. Ole and Gjertrude sailed to Hull, England on the ship, Hero and then went to Liverpool to get the steamer to America. Their destination is given as Evansville, Minnesota. They were 24 and 22 years of age. They had 12 more children in Minnesota after there arrival.Do their descendants still have cousins in Norway? Are these ancestral farm sites mentioned above still able to be located? Do they still exist? Are any inhabited?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the lead. I sent an email to that address but haven't received any reply. Do you know if it is a current working address?

I have tried to get in connection with people in Melhus with names mentioned in your search, but have failed to get some intersted in being yuor guide. This evening I came in contact with secretary Finn Guttvik in 'Data i Slektsforsking, Sørtrøndelag' Trondheim. (Family Research), and mentioned your wish. I hope this will solve your problem

Thank you very much for your efforts to help. Let me know if there is anything I can do or try to find someone willing to guide me. I would prefer to get someone from the area who knows the locations of these farms if possible.
