I saw on Digitalarkivet in Norway that you were seeking information about Ole and Helvine. I have same information to you about Inga Marie who where the oldest sister to your grandfather Wraal. She was married to Johannes Johansen and lived in Drammen the rest of her life. They had eight children together. Inga Marie is grandmother to my sister in law Berit Hansen who also live in Drammen, a town firty minutes from Oslo. So you and Berit have the same g-grandparents Ole and Helvine.Berit would be very grateful if you could send her the picture of Ole and Helvine by email because she have never seen them on any picture. If your g-g-g-grandfather Einar Vraalsen was born in ca 1796,I am nearly sure he was brother to my g-g-g-grandmother Anne Marie Vraalsdatter, born 1806...They lived on the place 'Jerngruben,Meheia' in Sandsvær at this time...Their parents was Vraal Einarsøn Jerngruben and Lucie Narvesdatter. I can give you more information about Anne Maries children, if you want. And maybe you or Gry or Ingrid can tell me that I am on 'the right way' or not...? Geir.

Hello Sharon! Back after easter holiday. Thank you for your answer! Nice to find relatives! This is what I know about Anne Marie Vraalsdatter and her family: Anne M. b.1806 d.1868 married with Anders Halvorsen Landemoen (1798 - 1866)in 1827.This was Anders`2.marriage,his first wife died in 1825.One daughter with her:Johanne Kirstine b.1823.Found her in 1843, but not in 1865 census. Anders and Anne M`s children: Lucie Marie b.1828,unmarried in 65. Anne Helene b.1829-d.1914 (my g-g-grandmother!) Five children. Halvor b.1833, unmarried in 65. Ola b.1838-d.1866,married.No children who grown up. Maren Syrine b.1841, unmarried in 65. Petrine Olea b.1842,married in 1885, not found in 1900 census,immigrated? No children found. Karen Sofie b.1844-d.1886 marrried.2 children. All of them b.in Sandsvær and\or Kongsberg. I think this is enough for now...but of course I know more about Anne Helene... Have a nice day! Geir.

Hello Sharon BrugmanI think may father Olaf Johansen visited your grandfather Vrål Vrålsen (Also written Vraal,Wraal,Wrol and Vrol etc.) in USA I think in 1947. Olaf Johansen was the oldest son of Johannes Johansen and Inga Wroldsen born in 1905 in Drammen. Some time ago I tried to find your grandfather in USA, but did not succeed. You got a lot of response on your seeking, so I am a little unsure what know or want to know about the family. I assume that you know about Helga Wroldsens family in North Dakota. I also think it was interesting that many other relatives to the Ola Vraalsen and Helevine and their ancestors responded to your mail. I have studied a lot on may grandmothers ancestors ( Inga Marie Wroldsen)and have come far. But this is some time ago and it is not written out in any good system. As I understand Geir Beck-Andersen has given the earliest ancestor so far Wraal Enersøn(b. 1766) og Lussi Narvesdatter( born 1770). Wraal Enersøn was son of Ener Hansen and Marie Wraalsdatter. Maria was born in 1736 at the farm Mellom Hotvedt in Sandsvær.Best regardsLasse Vråle

Hello Lasse!So good to hear from you!My mother, who passed away in 2003, said she could remember a relative of her father (Wrol) coming to visit in the late 1940's but she could not remember who he was. I have a picture your father may have mailed to them from Norway. The postmark shows 14-12-49 Drammen. The return address looks like Olaf Johansen, Roseregon, Awofurt. The writing has faded so am not too sure of the spelling. It is a picture of a family consisting of a man, woman, and 3 children. The man resembles my grandfather so I thought perhaps it could have been his brother, either Hakon or Edvard. There are no names on the picture.It would be wonderful if you could identify the people in the picture.I would love to find out about Inga's family. Who her children married and where they lived. I have contacted Helga's family in North Dakota but haven't gotten too far.Yes, the people who have responded to this message have been just wonderful.
