Please excuse me for not posting in Norwegian, but I can't write it. If anyone has the time, I would be grateful if he or she would translate this inscription in a family bible, which was writtin in 1909:'Til Sebretar August Engen i taknemlig erindring om trofast arbeide fra Officerer og Kanmerader (or Kammerader) paa No 7.'This may be a lot of help in searching for the long-lost birth information for a friend's great-grandmother who is thought to have been born in Hedmark, so any help would be appreciated.Ingrid Seim

Don't know if 'Sebretar' is a mistake or not. But otherwise it says: 'To ___ (secretary?) August Engen, in grateful memory of faithful work, from officers and comrades on No. 7'

Thank you for your kind help.'Sebretar' could be a word I misread because of the handwriting. Is 'Sekretar' a valid word in Norwegian? If so, perhaps that is the word. Does it mean 'secretary?'

Yes, right. Norwegian Sekretær means secretary/clerk.
