Hei Ellenor! I wonder if this website could be helpful: www.brooklynpubliclibrary.orgPerhaps you could send the 'reference desk' an email and ask if there is a way of checking for a newspaper obituary for Jacob Jacobsen (as listed at the SSDI, he died January 18, 1999 in Brooklyn Kings Co, NY). The obit might give more info on the family...well, that is IF this is the son of Jenny and Arent!mvh Patty

Excellent idea Patty – I’ll give it a try … AND why shouldn’t he be the son of Jenny and Arent!!! This is the key to the family ... By the way what do you think about Gloria – written 21.11.2007 18:03 (50) is she the daughter of Jenny and Arent ??? / ellenor

Hei Ellenor! Well, if Gloria was 2 years 6 months old in the 1930 census, then she would have been born about June, 1927 right??...so that is off by a year for this other Gloria, born Aug. 1926. do you agree?? I hope the Brooklyn Library helps you find some pieces to your puzzle...it SEEMS this should be the right Jacob Jacobsen...mvh Patty

Hallo Patty – AND thanks again for your idea - it seems like the Brooklyn Library accepted my question … SO now it’s about 2-3 weeks waiting for answer - it’s a long time just waiting // ellenor

Ja nu har det vandrat mail mellom meg og Brooklyn Public Library i flera veckor OCH detta blev resultatet: ”Dear Ms. Goransson, I am sorry that we cannot search for an obituary for Jacob Jacobsen. We only search the newspaper The Brooklyn Daily Eagle that published from 1841-1955. If you wish, please contact the New York Public Library at www.nypl.org/express. They have a department called EXPRESS that is for research requests only. They do charge a fee and you can find out that information at their website. I wish you the best in your search.

However, we did do a search in the clippings of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle for Arent Jacobsen, Rasmus Jacobsen, Konrad Knudsen, and Jennie Jacobson, thinking that perhaps there was an article on them, or that they died before 1955. We were largely unsuccessful but did find a few articles on a Jacob Jacobsen. There is no direct connection but perhaps this is the same family. I will send them on to you. Thank you and Merry Christmas.” NO kan vi snakke om Merry Christmas – der finns goa människor I USA också - no blir det spennande igen !!! //ellenor

Jag fick en notis från en vänlig kvinna vid Brooklyn Library – MEN den handlar om en Jacob Jacobsen, född i Norge, och död år 1951 vid 82 års ålder – SÅ det är inte min Jacob – lägger ändå in en avskrift om någon söker denne Jacob:”Funeral services for Jacob Jacobsen, 82, head of Jacobsen Metal Works, 192 24th St., which he established 30 years ago, will be held at 8.30 pm tomorrow at the E C Waldeck n Home for Funerals, 7614 4th Ave. The Rev. Dr. William F. Sunday, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Stepherd, 4 th Ave. and 75th St., of which Mr. Jacobsen was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Cyress Hills Cemetery. Mr. Jacobsen who lived at 368 76th ST., died Saturday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Sylvia Ayerhart, Bay ridge. He was born in Norway and had lived in Brooklyn since coming to this country as a young man. Besides Mrs. Ayerhart, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Ruth Kelly; a son, Edwin Jacobsen and six grandchildren”Är det någon som har tips om ett bätter ställe att lägga informationen ??? //ellenor
