I cannot find an Ole Olsen Bjorgen in our censes. Is there a record of his immigration to the US? If I could have a date to start with, that would be a big help!!thanks much!! Deborah

The young Ole and the old Ole did not emmigrate. Look at my answer (27). Both Ole at the same farm in 1900.I found Anders and his mother Gjertrud in 1875. LenkeWhat is strange, is that Gjertrud and her husband Ole is not together in 1865, not in 1875 and not in 1900!

Sorry for not paying closer attention! I have been looking back and forth in the census, trying to piece info together. I appreciate your curiosity. Wish I could speak, and write norwegian, so I could do the research between the two countries as well!!!

Maybe they were separated/divorced, and she called herself “widow” when she emigrated? We can’t find them together in 1865. Or is this Gjertrud another woman?Karen

I wonder if I have made a mistake about Anders mother? There is also a Gjertrud Andersdatter born in Leksvik, Nord-Trøndelag. Look at girl no 5 on the right hand side. LenkeI found this Gjertrud Andersdtr, born in Leksvik in census 1865 and 1875, but is it the right person? What is right is that Ole Olsen Bjørgen and Gjertrud Andersdtr had a son Ole in 1843, a son Anders in 1851 and a daughter Marith in 1853.It's time for some sleep!Marianne

The age of this son is 9 years old, if this is the right Ole Olsen, Ole jr. should have been 22/23 years old, but miswritings happens.Gjertrud Andersdatter, married, not living with her husband, with children Anders and Marith in 1865 Lenke This is the Gjertrud born at Lexvigen in 1819/20.

If Gjertrud is born in Leksvik in Nord-Trøndelag County; this could be her family:Married 23 June 1820 in Leksvik: Anders Hansen Bjerkhaugen, age 27, and Widow Mari Arnstdatter Bjerkhaugen, age 35.Gjertrud born 22 December 1820 and Christened 1 January 1821 in Leksvik, parents Anders Hansen and Marie Arntsdtr. Bjerkhaug.Marie previously married: 20 December 1805 in Leksvik, bridegroom John Arntsen Pennen and bride Maria Arntsdatter, she from Oppdal in Sør-Trøndelag County. (Marie must have been about 20 years old, and John about 31 years old).John Arntsen Pennen Bjerkhaugen died 6 January 1818, age 44.Marie and John’s children: Nils (m) born 1805, Arnt (m) born 1808, Ole (m) born 1811, Halvor (m) born 1814 and Ingeborg (fm) born 1817.Karen

(Born about 1792 in Oppdal). This Anders died on 25th of June in 1875, age 85.In 1854 there is a Mari Arntsdtr. Stubban, age 72, who died on November 2nd.Could they be Gjertrud’s parents?Karen

Family?? Could this be the Anders who married Mari Arntsdtr. in Leksvik in 1820? Christened in Oppdal on November 25th 1792: Anders Hansen. Parents Hans Olsen Biørndahlen and Jertrud Sivertsdtr. Biørndahlen. In the 1801 census, farm Biørndahl in Oppdal: Farmer Hans Olsen, age 54, and wife Giertrud Sivertsdtr., age 46. Children: Karen (fm) 17, Sivert (m) 16, Ole (m) 11 and Anders (m) 9.Hans Olsen Biørndahl, age 66, died on February 6th 1818. Gjertrud Sivertsdtr. Bjørndal, age 96, died on April 6th 1855.If Hans and Gjertrud are Anders Hansen Bjørgen’s parents, then Gjertrud, Anders’daughter, is named after her grandmother (his mother) Gjertrud.Gjertrud Andersdtr.’s siblings? Hanna (fm), born November 24th 1823 in Oppdal. Parents Anders Hansen Biørndahl and Maria Arntsdtr. Biørndahl. Hans (m), born January 19th 1826 in Oppdal. Parents Anders Hansen Biørndahl and Marie Arntsdtr. Bjørndahl.July 7th 1847 in Oppdal: Bridegroom (Gjertrud’s brother?)Hans Andersen age 21 ½ , family name Bjørgen, residence Bjørndal in Oppdal – and bride Rannei Eriksdtr.Vigen. Bridegroom’s father Anders Hansen Bjørgen.February 15th 1858, Hans Andersen Stubban, age 32, died/perished. In the 1865 census we can find the widow Rannei Eriksdtr., age 42, at Stubban farm in Oppdal (at the same farm as her father-in-law, Anders Hansen, is living). Ranvei Eriksdtr. Stubban, born 1824, died November 25th 1900.Vaccinated in Oppdal December 10th 1821:Gertrue Andersdtr. Bjørndal, age 1. Father Anders Hansen BjørndalI think that Anders Hansen Bjørndal/Bjerkhaugen/Bjørgen/Stubban is the same person, and Gjertrud Andersdtr. Bjørgen’s father. (But of course, I can’t verify that).-----------------------Anders Olsen Bjørgen became father twice in 1880. He had a daughter with Mari Jørgensdtr. Aalbu in February - and a son with his wife Marie in November. The daughter Sigrid was born February 6th.Karen
