In my search for possible persons who may be my ancestor, I would like an interpreation of the words 'candid medicina' after the father's name.

Candidatus medicinæ (male), Candidata medicinæ (female), abbreviated cand. med. is an academic degree awarded in Denmark, Iceland and Norway following a six year medical school education. In Germany the term cand. med. is commenly used to denote a medical student in a six year program who has passed the First Medical State Examination after 2 years of pre-clinical study and has entered the clinical part. Many thanks. That probably eliminates that possibility, as he said his father was a carpenter. What is Norwegian for carpenter?

Hi Frank,Any indication of approximate birth year of Christopher og where in Norway he came from? North, West, East, South? Tudor is not a very common Norwegian last name.

Hi Jan, He came from either Arendal or Christiania. I realise that Tudor is unlikely to be his real name. He either 'adopted' it or it is a variation of Theodor. He was born about 1832. I have provided most information I have about him earlier under the subject 'names interpretation'.
