Candidatus medicinæ (male), Candidata medicinæ (female), abbreviated cand. med. is an academic degree awarded in Denmark, Iceland and Norway following a six year medical school education. In Germany the term cand. med. is commenly used to denote a medical student in a six year program who has passed the First Medical State Examination after 2 years of pre-clinical study and has entered the clinical part. Hi Jan, He came from either Arendal or Christiania. I realise that Tudor is unlikely to be his real name. He either 'adopted' it or it is a variation of Theodor. He was born about 1832. I have provided most information I have about him earlier under the subject 'names interpretation'.
