[#72189] Charles (Karl) Gunderson born Aalesund (?) March 7, 1881

Mr. Gunderson applied for a passport to return to Norway for family matters in July 1920. His family - wife Inga Kvenild and two young children were coming with. He gives his date of birth as 7 March 1881 at Aalesund. I cannot find this in the digitized records. He states he emigrated to America from Aalesund in June 1899. He married in New York. Am I on the right or wrong track for finding his birthplace? Thank you.

Asse,I found the arrival of Karl and Ingeborg at Ellis Island on Jul. 01, 1901. Their port of departure was Glasgow, Scotland. They had used the surname Gamlem, a farm name, perhaps. Karl then used Gunderson in America. Thank you again for this help. Carla Tweeton
