I can't decipher this entry (last entry on the page).Permanent sidelenke: LenkeIt is the marriage of Vilhelmine Dorthea (daughter of Johannes Villumsen) from Mandal. I believe the groom is Tommis Hans Kristian Andreas Andersen (kjøbehavn. and widower). The book states that they were married on 29 April 1875, but I can't figure out the location 'i Lieth? i Luth?'Also, I can't make out his birthplace/residence. It looks kind of like 'Grangemonth', but that doesn't seem right.I have looked for this couple in 1900, hoping it might give me some clues to the puzzle, but I can't find them anywhere in Norway. I also looked for Tommis in 1865... no luck there either. Can someone help me?Hilsen Patti Mikkelsen

Many thanks, Bjørg!So, can I assume Vilhelmine has traveled to Scotland sometime prior to 1875? Perhaps that is why I can't find her in the 1900 census.Have I interpreted the rest of the information correctly?Again, thank you...mvh Patti

No, I think they must have settled in Scotland (or elsewhere). The groom's name sounds more like Norwegian than Scottish, so I wonder if his father was born in Norway. I looked on the LDS website at the 1881 Census for England, but did not find them. So, I really have no idea where they lived.I looked for an emigration record for Vilhelmine, but did not find one. I wonder how she met Tommis. I think I'll never know the answer to that question!mvh Patti

Above the groom's name it probably says Enk...mand = widower, which corresponds with the note far right which says that the groom's first wife is dead.See the database over married in the Norwegian Seamen's Church in Leith, 1868-1897: Lenke

Sorry, lost a line there somehow....What I intended to write was that the groom's given name is different in the database.

Thank you for your reply, Vibeke. I didn't search this database. It is easier to read than the kirkeboker! Do you think that perhaps the first name in the kirkeboker is not a given name? I thought it might be an abbreviation of Tømmermann, but that is not right if he was a 'merchantile clerk'. I wonder which name is the right one?mvh Patti

I have solved the mystery of the groom's birth and name. He is Han Christian Andreas Andersen, b 12 May 1838 in Garnisons Sogn, Kobenhavn, Denmark. Found his birth on LDS site. So, either that first word in the kirkebok is some kind of description or it's just an error.Vilbeke, thank you for encouraging me to take another look at this!mvh Patti
