Gjest Yngve Nedrebø Skrevet Januar 10, 2011 Del Skrevet Januar 10, 2011 In Norway you would need a passport if you wanted to travel from one part to another part of the country. This system was in use till 1860.The 'soldatpass' was issued to show that the person mentioned there had fullfilled his military duties, and were free to leave service and free to go home. It also meant he could marry without consent of the Military, and he could go to a town and get a commercial citizenship. So this passport was important for the ex-soldier!
