Redelig is a typical soldier´s name. Most people had patronymics (son of Daniel = Danielsson). That meant that many had the same name. When they enrolled in the army they were given new names by the officers, often these names were connected to where they lived or, in this case, a personal connotation, Redelig meaning honest. Soldiers lived in a small house with a bit of land in the villages and went for training once or twice a year. And, of course, in case of war they were called out. They were supported by the local farmers. So, Jon´s father was Daniel Jonsson Redelig when he was a soldier, obviously Daniel´s father was called Jon. His son were Jon and Erik Danielsson.
