OREGON - Evelyn Fosso, age 88, of Oregon, passed away at home, surrounded by her children on Sunday, March 21, 2004. She was born on July 30, 1915, in Rock Springs, to August and Ella (Mahler) Klitzke. She married Elmer J. Fosso on Feb. 24, 1940. Together they farmed in rural Oregon, in Rutland township until 1994. She was Elmer's partner in all their years of farming. In 1995, they moved to the community of Rolling Meadows, in Oregon. Elmer preceded her in death on March 25, 2001. Evelyn's life was devoted to her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hospitality was also an important part of Evelyn's life. Cooking a big dinner and having her children come home gave her great fulfillment. Many family holidays and special occasions were enjoyed at the farm, and in later years at their condo in Oregon. Evelyn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Oregon, the Ruth Circle, the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 49, Oregon, and Silverthreads. She also enjoyed the social activities and card parties at the Oregon Senior Center. Evelyn is survived by three children, Jackie (Tom) McFarland, Oshkosh, Elmer (Lorene) Fosso Jr., Oregon, and Susie (Jim) Dunn, Oregon; five grandchildren, Shelli McFarland, Almond, Shaun McFarland, Chicago, Ill., Doug (Shelda) Fosso, Oshkosh, Peter (Angela) Dunn, Williams Bay, and Kelle Dunn, Madison; seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, and B.J. Bavery, Paul Froehlich, Dominick and Evieanna Fosso and Trace Dunn; four sisters, Jeanette Legler, Belleville, Elaine (Duane) Wilde, New Glarus, Elnora Pulver, Oregon, and Johanna (Kenneth) Butts, Sanger, Calif.; two brothers, Lester Klitzke, New Glarus, and Roy (Darlene) Klitzke, New Glarus; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; a step-mother, Elva (Marquert) Klitzke; her husband; a sister, Elvera Pernot; five brothers, twins, Clarence and Lawrence Klitzke, David Klitzke, Augie Klitzke and George Schultz; and a great-grandchild, Faith Fosso. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2004, at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, with the Rev. Steven Ristau Hanson presiding. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery.

Oscar S. Fosso, 81, of 501 Minnesota Ave., Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at St. Michael's Hospital.

 

A private family memorial service will be held at Boston Funeral Home. A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.

 

Oscar was born May 12, 1923, in Dane County to the late Torstein and Josephine (Haustviet) Fosso. He attended schools in Dane County and then moved to Stevens Point in 1950. His marriage to Betty Kinney took place in Stevens Point Nov. 11, 1950. Oscar was a truck driver for his entire working career and was employed by Moland Brothers Trucking, Glendenning Motor Ways and GMW Trucking until his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement, he transported vehicles for various auto dealers in Stevens Point.

 

He was a lifetime member of the Stevens Point Elks Club BPOE No. 641 and was a past member of the Issac Walton's. Oscar enjoyed trapshooting, golf and various other activities that allowed him to interact with people.

 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; three daughters, Patricia (Claron) Suchowski of Stevens Point, Linda Fosso of Stevens Point and Deborah Melchionda of Tucson, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Erin Lockhart of Wisconsin Rapids and Stacey Feist of Stevens Point; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Lockhart of Wisconsin Rapids and Nichole Feistof Stevens Point; two sisters, Alice Tillung of Rice Lake and Harriet (DeWayne) Wilson of Tustin, Calif.; and one brother, Jerome Fosso of Madison.

 

He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
