Magnus and Ane Grindal (Stjordal- Hegra?)

A family wishes to know more about siblings or parents of the above named couple . I have had no luck in

checking the 1865 census for them. They did have a son born about 1897 in Norway. Thank you for any help.

The county may be Nord Trondelag or More and Romsdal.

In the census for 1900 there are 10 farms called Grindal. One is at the municipality of Stange, in the county of Hedmark. The remaining nine are at the mountain village of Rennebu, in the county of South-Trøndelag.

 

The census data contain the names and age of all persons living at these farms in the year 1900.

Could this be your Magnus Grindal born 1848 in Elverum, Oppland?

 

What happened to Ane and Magnus after they had a child about 1897?

I think I may have found the correct ?? family. An Andreas Grindal (Grendahl or other spelling) emigrated

from Stjordal June 15, 1920 to the home of his brother, Haakon, in Thief River Falls, MN. His father's name was given

as Magnus Grendahl of Nedre Stjordal. Andreas was born 30 Oct. 1897, to skomager Magnus Hanson and Anne Grindersdatter. On the 1900 census, there is a family living at Vennaplads , Nedre Stjordalen, with children

named Gurine, Haakon, Even and Andreas. The only difference is that the mother is Anne Gunnarsdatter. The ages of

the parents correspond with the birth record of Andreas. I also found the parents of Magnus Hans. living at Borstad-

p

lads and the parents of Anne Gunnarsdatter living at Qvaal vestre on the 1865 census for Nedre Stjordalen.

Thank you! I did make the mistake of thinking Gundersdatter was Grindersdatter - it was late last night!

 

I wonder on the birth of Martin what the rt. side note after the witnesses means. I can read it fairly well, but don't understand - might there have been a home baptism and then a church blessing or ?????
